Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) together with Indian Army hosted the RAMICOM South 2017 at Hotel Ritz Carlton.The spotlight event was a Seminar on “Indigenisation “.The seminar highlighted how Indigenisation will catalyze, transform India’s defense sector. India’s defense now also pledge to take an oath to change its old and the unconventional weapons into raid modernized warfare machinery. With this, the county gears up & prepares itself for any form of crisis which is going to come in the near future.
With an all-around, comprehensive modernization drive outlined for its armed forces, India targets to spend over $150 billion over the next five years on defense procurements, offering a lucrative market to the global military firms to grab a pie. This also offers a tremendous opportunity for India’s domestic defense sector, especially MSME’s to showcase their talent in India’s defense Manufacturing process as well. With “ Make In India” in mind, India certainly holds the potential to catalyze and transform itself into a vibrant hub of world-class design, development, manufacturing and export hub of high-end defense products in the next two to three decades.
The aim of this event was to spread awareness about the procedures involved in defense procurement and indigenization, as also to address mutual concerns. Regional AMICOMs provide a platform for the Central and Regional Ordnance Depots, Army Base Workshops, Ordnance Factories, DPSUs and private Industry of a geographical region to come together and share mutual requirements, capabilities and concerns in order to harness the prowess of the regional industry to meet the sustenance requirements of the Indian Army and boost self-reliance in Defence Manufacturing.
