GSAS Micro Systems Pvt. Ltd. today inaugurated its new manufacturing and expanded R&D facility in Doddaballapur, Bengaluru Rural, marking a significant step in the company’s journey from embedded engineering and technology integration into a deeper in-house product-development and manufacturing footprint in Karnataka.

Located in the Doddaballapur 3rd Phase Industrial Area, the new facility brings GSAS’s product development, engineering, manufacturing and project activities together under one roof. It will serve as a working hub for hardware manufacturing, assembly, integration, quality testing, R&D and new-product development.

The expansion comes as Karnataka seeks to translate its established strengths in electronic design and semiconductor R&D into a broader electronics manufacturing ecosystem. The Karnataka Digital Economy Mission says the state contributes 10% of India’s electronics output, nearly 40% of India’s electronic design output and more than 22% of national electronics exports, while hosting more than 100 fabless semiconductor design companies.

For GSAS, the Doddaballapur facility is both a business milestone and the culmination of a much older ambition. The company’s founder has carried the vision of building a dedicated electronics manufacturing base since the 1990s. Bringing that ambition to life in Karnataka gives the company a permanent home for developing and building more of its own products while expanding the engineering infrastructure available for customer-specific programmes.

The project also reflects the role of Karnataka’s industry-led electronics ecosystem in creating a path for local electronics companies to grow. GSAS acknowledges the Consortium of Electronic Industries of Karnataka (CLIK) and its ESDM Cluster for helping create the Doddaballapur electronics-manufacturing ecosystem that has enabled Karnataka electronics companies to make long-term investments in product development and manufacturing. Smt. Uma Reddy, President of FKCCI, is herself a long-time electronics entrepreneur and a former President of CLIK, connecting today’s broader Karnataka industry platform with the state’s specialised electronics-industry institutions.

The new GSAS site will support the company’s Test Solutions Integration business, government project work and ODM programmes. It will also become the manufacturing base for the upcoming Genesis series of microcontroller and FPGA development boards, alongside additional GSAS products currently under development.

GSAS has historically combined electronic design tools, test and measurement, hardware development and engineering services with the development of its own hardware. The Doddaballapur site brings more of that lifecycle together physically, from engineering and product development through assembly, integration, testing and production support.

Bengaluru Rural provides an increasingly relevant setting for that expansion. Invest Karnataka identifies electrical/electronics, aerospace and automotive among the district’s major industrial sectors and lists Doddaballapur and Obadenahalli (Doddaballapura Phase 3) among its established industrial areas.

Founded in Bengaluru in 2010, GSAS Micro Systems works across India’s embedded and electronics engineering ecosystem. The company sees the Doddaballapur facility as an important foundation for GSAS Vision 2035, strengthening its ability to develop products, execute larger engineering programmes and manufacture more hardware in Karnataka.

This is a deeply personal milestone for me. I have wanted to build a dedicated electronics manufacturing home since the 1990s. Karnataka gave our generation of electronics entrepreneurs the engineering talent, industry networks and ecosystem to build companies here. With this facility, we now have a place where our team can take more ideas from engineering and R&D into real products and manufacturing. For us, this is not the end of a dream; it is the foundation for what GSAS wants to build next.

Our engineering work has been moving deeper into the FPGA space, with vision AI and edge AI projects, board bring-up support for automotive programmes, and PCBA test automation. Doddaballapur gives that work a manufacturing home. It is where we will build the upcoming Genesis series of FPGA and Arm and RISC-V developer boards and kits, and where engineering, testing and production finally sit together.
