About GSAS Motor & Control Modules

The GSAS Motor and Control Modules are a set of six interface modules that bring real-world control system concepts into the microprocessor lab. Rather than working with abstract I/O patterns, students program actual motors, simulate elevator operation, sequence traffic lights, implement logic control, and manage real-time clock functions, bridging the gap between microprocessor theory and practical embedded control applications. Each module connects to GSAS microprocessor trainer kits through the standard bus connector.

GSAS motor and control interface modules for embedded control system labs

These modules transform standard interfacing experiments into engaging, visual demonstrations of embedded control. The DC motor module includes a motor with driver circuit for speed control experiments, teaching PWM generation concepts. The stepper motor module provides a unipolar/bipolar stepper with 2N3055 driver for precise positioning experiments. The elevator simulator uses LEDs and switches to model a multi-floor elevator system, requiring students to implement scheduling algorithms and state machines. The traffic light controller uses a realistic LED arrangement to teach sequential timing and state-based control.

The logic controller module introduces programmable logic concepts through switch configurations, while the real-time clock (RTC) module provides hands-on experience with timekeeping ICs, BCD time format handling, and alarm/interrupt-driven scheduling, skills directly applicable to industrial automation and data logging systems.

Why GSAS

GSAS manufactures these motor and control modules in Bangalore, ensuring durable mechanical and electrical construction suited for heavy lab use. The real-world nature of these modules, actual spinning motors, visible elevator simulations, and realistic traffic light sequences, significantly improves student engagement compared to purely LED-based I/O experiments. Colleges benefit from volume pricing for complete lab setups and direct technical support from the GSAS education products team.

Products are available for immediate purchase through the GSAS online store (“Buy on Store”) or through direct engagement for institutional and volume orders (“Request Volume Pricing”).
