About DAQ-9600 Series

The GW Instek DAQ-9600 Series is a modular data acquisition system and multi-channel data logger built around a 3-slot mainframe and a precision 6½-digit DMM (1,200,000 counts). Populate its three plug-in slots with multiplexer, matrix, multifunction or high-voltage modules and the system scales to 120 single-ended (60 two-wire) channels, measuring 14 different input signal types: temperature, voltage, current, resistance, frequency, capacitance and strain, at scanning rates up to 450 channels per second. A modular data acquisition system with a 6½-digit DMM

At the heart of the DAQ-9600 is a built-in 6½-digit (1,200,000-count) digital multimeter with 0.0035% basic DCV accuracy, 0.05% basic ACV accuracy and 0.01% basic resistance accuracy. Every channel routed through a plug-in module is measured by this single, traceable DMM, so readings across dozens of points stay consistent. A large 4.3-inch TFT colour display shows live channel values, charts and alarm status on the front panel, while up to 100,000 readings of non-volatile internal memory let the system log unattended and retain data through a power cycle. Scanning runs up to 450 channels per second, and a single channel can be sampled at up to 38,400 readings per second for fast transient capture.

This breadth lets one mainframe handle a mixed sensor harness, thermocouples, RTDs, voltage taps, shunt-based current and strain gauges, that would otherwise need several separate instruments.

DAQ-9600 plug-in modules

The three slots accept any combination of seven modules, so channel count, switching type and voltage rating are matched to the job. Modules are hot-swappable, letting you reconfigure a test rig without powering the mainframe down.

A maximum 120 single-ended channels is reached with three DAQ-903 modules; 60 two-wire channels with three 20-channel multiplexers. The DAQ-909 is the route to direct 600 V DC / 400 V AC measurement, and the DAQ-907 turns the mainframe into a small control node with digital I/O, counting and analog output.

Multi-channel data logger: software, logging and interfaces

As a multi-channel data logger, the DAQ-9600 records to 100,000 points of non-volatile memory and connects over USB (host/device), LAN and Digital I/O, with mini-GPIB as a factory option. The free DAQ-Data Logger PC software provides channel configuration, real-time charting and data export. A LabVIEW driver (LabVIEW 2015 or later) supports custom test sequences. A built-in web interface lets you monitor and control the system from any browser on the network. Logged data can be copied straight to a USB flash drive from the front panel, and per-channel alarm thresholds flag out-of-limit readings during a scan.
