Overview
About LCR-6000 Series Precision LCR Meter
The GW Instek LCR-6000 Series is a compact, precision LCR meter and component tester that characterises passive components from 10 Hz up to 300 kHz with 0.05% basic accuracy. With 16 measurement combinations (four parameters shown at once), internal ±2.5 V DC bias, DCR measurement and a 9 BIN + 1 AUX comparator, it gives R&D, incoming-inspection and production teams a single benchtop instrument for capacitor, inductor and resistor testing, packed into a space-saving 2U, half-rack chassis.
The family spans five models. The LCR-6300 runs to 300 kHz, stepping down through the LCR-6200 (200 kHz), LCR-6100 (100 kHz), LCR-6020 (20 kHz) and LCR-6002 (2 kHz). All five start from 10 Hz and share the same 0.05% accuracy, selectable 30 Ω / 50 Ω / 100 Ω output impedance, internal DC bias and full set of standard interfaces.

A precision benchtop LCR meter: 10 Hz to 300 kHz
The LCR-6000 covers the frequency band where most passive components are specified and qualified: mains and audio frequencies, switch-mode power-supply ranges, and the low-RF region up to 300 kHz. The AC test signal is adjustable from 10 mV to 2 Vrms (or 100 µA to 20 mArms in constant-current mode), with selectable 30 Ω / 50 Ω / 100 Ω output impedance to match the device under test. An internal ±2.5 V DC bias lets you characterise DC-biased inductors and Class-II ceramic capacitors under realistic operating conditions, and direct DCR measurement (+2 V, 0.066 A max) covers winding and contact resistance.

The LCR-6000 model lineup
| Model | Max test frequency |
|---|---|
| LCR-6300 | 300 kHz |
| LCR-6200 | 200 kHz |
| LCR-6100 | 100 kHz |
| LCR-6020 | 20 kHz |
| LCR-6002 | 2 kHz |
All five models start from 10 Hz; only the maximum test frequency differs. GSAS helps you select the model whose top frequency matches your highest measurement point with margin to spare, so you do not over-specify the instrument.
16 measurement combinations, four parameters at once
The LCR-6000 supports 16 major/secondary parameter combinations: Cs-Rs, Cs-D, Cp-Rp, Cp-D, Lp-Rp, Lp-Q, Ls-Rs, Ls-Q, Rs-Q, Rp-Q, R-X, Z-θr, Z-θd, Z-D, Z-Q and DCR, plus two additional monitor parameters (Z, D, Q, Vac, Iac, θr, θd, R, X, G, B, Y, Δ, Δ%), so up to four different parameters appear on the 3.5-inch color display simultaneously. Both series and parallel equivalent-circuit modes are available, letting you report each component the way its model demands. OPEN / SHORT correction: across the full frequency range or at a single spot, removes fixture and cable parasitics from the reading.
Production component sorting: BIN comparator and list mode
For incoming inspection and production screening, the LCR-6000 provides a 9 BIN + 1 AUX comparator (10 bins total) with PASS / FAIL judgement and value, Δ or Δ% limits. Sorting results are output over the Handler interface for direct connection to a PLC or component sorter, so good and reject parts are separated automatically. The 10-step list mode sweeps multiple frequency and level points per cycle with per-step judgement, and selectable INT / MAN / EXT / BUS triggering with adjustable delay (0 ms to 60 s) suits both bench and automated workflows. Measured data is saved as CSV (up to 10,000 records internally) and screen captures as BMP to a USB flash drive for traceability.
Test fixtures and accessories
The LCR-6000 works with GW Instek’s standard LCR fixture range. Select the fixture to match your component package and frequency:
- Kelvin clip leads: 4-wire connection for general leaded components and bench measurements.
- SMD / chip fixtures and tweezers: for surface-mount capacitors, inductors and resistors.
- Axial / radial leaded-component fixtures: for through-hole passives in incoming inspection.
GSAS Micro Systems recommends the right fixture for your part and frequency so measurements stay accurate and repeatable.
Applications
The LCR-6000’s accuracy, sorting features and compact form factor make it well suited to:
- Passive component characterisation: capacitors, inductors and resistors measured with series/parallel models, D and Q across 10 Hz to 300 kHz.
- Incoming inspection and production sorting: BIN comparator and Handler interface for automated pass/fail screening.
- Power magnetics and audio components: inductors, transformers and chokes at their operating frequencies, including DCR and DC-biased inductance.
- R&D and engineering test: quick, accurate L, C, R, Z, D, Q and θ readings during design verification.
- Quality and calibration labs: repeatable measurements with open/short correction and traceable results.
The LCR-6000 supports engineering and manufacturing teams in component manufacturing, power electronics and EV, audio and consumer electronics, and electronics QA where accuracy and production throughput both matter.
