About FADOS MUX Multiplexer Module

The FADOS MUX is an expansion module designed to enhance the testing capability of the FADOS circuit board diagnostic system. It enables users to significantly increase the number of test points that can be analyzed, making it ideal for complex and high-density PCBs. The MUX unit works by multiplexing multiple test channels into the FADOS system, allowing automated switching between different test points without the need for manual probe repositioning. This improves testing efficiency, repeatability, and speed, especially when dealing with large boards or multiple test locations.

The FADOS MUX is controlled entirely through the FADOS Analysis Suite software. After a reference board is profiled and the 96-point reference curves are stored, every subsequent board is tested by placing it on the fixture and initiating the scan. The software automatically sequences through all points, compares each VI curve against the reference, flags any deviations beyond the configured tolerance, and generates a comprehensive batch report with point-level fault detail. This enables operators with minimal electronics training to perform thorough board diagnostics at production speed.

Production Testing Workflow

A typical FADOS MUX deployment follows this workflow:

  1. Reference profiling: a known-good board is placed on the test fixture and all 96 points are scanned to build the reference curve database
  2. Tolerance configuration: engineers set acceptable deviation limits for each point based on expected component variation
  3. Production scanning: operators place each DUT on the fixture and initiate the automated scan; the system sequences through all 96 points in seconds
  4. Pass/fail reporting: the software generates immediate pass/fail indication with a detailed report identifying which specific points failed and the nature of the curve deviation
  5. Batch documentation: test results are archived for quality traceability, with export to CSV or PDF for QMS integration

Ideal Applications

  • Incoming inspection: verify boards received from contract manufacturers before accepting shipments, catching assembly defects, wrong-value components, and solder faults
  • Production-line end-of-line testing: automated board-level quality gate before final assembly or shipment
  • Batch verification: test consistency across production lots to detect process drift or component supply issues
  • Warranty return analysis: rapidly screen returned boards to separate genuine faults from no-fault-found units
  • Repair verification: confirm that repaired boards pass all 96 test points before returning to service

Why Buy from GSAS

GSAS Micro Systems provides the FADOS MUX with full application support including fixture design guidance, test point selection consulting, and tolerance configuration assistance. GSAS engineers work with production teams to define the optimal set of test points for each board type, ensuring maximum fault coverage with practical fixture complexity. The FADOS MUX, combined with the FADOS 9F1, provides a complete automated board diagnostic solution at a fraction of the cost of traditional ICT systems, making production-grade board testing accessible to mid-size manufacturers, repair centres, and incoming inspection teams across India.
