Overview
About GSAS Temperature Transducer with ADC Interface
The GSAS Temperature Transducer with ADC Interface (IF-TXDR ADC) is a sensor interfacing module that combines a PT100 resistance temperature detector with signal conditioning circuitry and an on-board analog-to-digital converter, providing a complete temperature measurement signal chain on a single interface card. The PT100 sensor’s resistance changes with temperature, the signal conditioning circuit converts this resistance change into a proportional voltage, and the ADC digitises the voltage for the microprocessor to read. Students program the trainer to read the ADC output, apply calibration and linearisation algorithms, and display the temperature in engineering units, experiencing the complete sensor-to-display data flow that is the foundation of every industrial measurement and control system.

Temperature measurement is the most common industrial sensing application, and the IF-TXDR ADC module provides hands-on experience with every stage of the measurement chain. Experiments begin with basic ADC reading and raw-to-temperature conversion using the PT100 characteristic equation, then progress to multi-point calibration, linearisation using lookup tables or polynomial approximation, averaging and filtering for noise reduction, threshold-based alarm triggering, and closed-loop temperature control when combined with a heating element and relay output module. The PT100 sensor is an industry-standard RTD (Resistance Temperature Detector) used in process control, HVAC, and laboratory instrumentation, so students work with the same sensor technology they will encounter in professional practice. Test points at the sensor output, signal conditioning output, and ADC input allow oscilloscope observation of the complete signal chain.

Compatibility
The IF-TXDR ADC module connects to all current GSAS microprocessor trainer kits through the standard expansion bus connector:
- GSAS 85A Microprocessor Trainer
- GSAS 86E Microprocessor Trainer
- GSAS 51E Microcontroller Trainer
No additional wiring or external power supplies are required, the module draws power and bus signals directly from the trainer.
Why GSAS
GSAS manufactures the Temperature Transducer with ADC Interface in Bangalore as part of its analog I/O peripheral module range. The integrated sensor-conditioning-ADC architecture on a single card means students experience the complete measurement chain without needing to assemble separate sensor, amplifier, and converter modules, reducing setup time and eliminating wiring errors that can consume valuable lab time. The PT100 is an industry-standard sensor, ensuring that the skills learned with this module transfer directly to professional instrumentation and process control work. The GSAS education products team provides lab manual content for temperature measurement experiments aligned with Indian university instrumentation and embedded systems curricula.
Products are available for immediate purchase through the GSAS online store (“Buy on Store”) or through direct engagement for institutional and volume orders (“Request Volume Pricing”).
