Overview
About GSAS Relay Output Interface Module
The GSAS Relay Output Interface Module (IF-RLYO) enables microprocessor trainer kits to control AC and DC loads through electromechanical relay switching. Each relay channel provides normally-open (NO) and normally-closed (NC) contacts accessible via screw terminals, allowing students to connect real-world loads, lamps, solenoids, motors, heaters, and other devices, to microprocessor output ports. The module includes relay driver circuitry with flyback diode protection and per-channel LED indicators that show the state of each relay, providing immediate visual feedback during programming and debugging.
Relay interfacing is one of the most practical and widely-applicable topics in embedded systems education. In industrial automation, relays serve as the interface between low-voltage digital control signals and high-power electrical loads, from factory floor motor starters to building HVAC systems. The IF-RLYO module teaches students the complete relay driving chain: configuring microprocessor output ports, driving relay coils through transistor switches, understanding flyback suppression, and wiring relay contacts to external loads. These skills translate directly to PLC-based automation, IoT actuator design, and any application where a microcontroller must switch power to external equipment.
Safety is emphasized throughout the relay interfacing curriculum. Students learn proper load isolation practices, the importance of flyback diodes for inductive load protection, contact rating specifications (voltage and current limits), and the distinction between controlling resistive versus inductive loads. The module’s screw terminal outputs allow supervised connection of low-voltage demonstration loads (lamps, buzzers, small motors) while the relay contact ratings accommodate higher-voltage loads under appropriate faculty supervision.

Why GSAS
GSAS manufactures the Relay Output Interface Module in Bangalore with durable relay hardware and clearly labelled screw terminals designed for repeated student use. The module bridges the gap between digital I/O exercises (LEDs and switches) and real-world load control, giving students the confidence to interface microprocessors with actual electrical devices. Compatible with GSAS 8085, 8086, and 8051 trainer kits, the IF-RLYO module integrates into existing lab setups and is supported by the GSAS structured lab manual.
Products are available for immediate purchase through the GSAS online store (“Buy on Store”) or through direct engagement for institutional and volume orders (“Request Volume Pricing”).
