Applications: Battery Simulation, ATE, and EV Power Testing in India

Semiconductor ATE, IGBT, SiC, GaN Device Characterization

High-voltage and high-current semiconductor devices require precise DC bias during parametric testing in ATE racks. The DCS-3100D models (0–650V) cover the gate and drain bias ranges for IGBT and SiC MOSFETs used in inverter and motor drive applications. VMCB multi-unit control over LAN allows a single test executive to address banks of supplies without individual instrument drivers. For semiconductor and electronics design teams building characterization or production ATE in India, the DCS-3100 integrates with standard VISA/SCPI instrument stacks.

Battery and BMS Testing, Li-Ion and Lead-Acid Simulation

The internal resistance simulation mode in the DCS-3100 reproduces the discharge V-I curve of 12V, 24V, and 48V battery packs, enabling BMS algorithms to be tested against realistic source impedance profiles. Programmable resistance values via LAN or USB allow automated state-of-health sweeps. For EV and energy systems teams qualifying BMS firmware or checking cell balancing circuits, this eliminates the need for physical battery racks during early-stage bench validation.

EV Power Module Validation, Inverter and DC-DC Converters

High-current parallel configuration supports up to 3 DCS3104A units (400W each, 40A each) in parallel for a combined 120A output, or 3 DCS3108A units for 240A, covering most 12V/24V/48V inverter and DC-DC converter input validation requirements. The 2000W DCS3120A provides up to 200A as a single unit. For EV power module test programmes running at production scale, the LIST sequencing feature automates charge and discharge profiles across test cycles without manual intervention.

Capacitor and Diode Characterization, High-Voltage I-V Curves

The DCS3104D through DCS3120D models provide up to 650V output for I-V curve tracing, aging, and leakage testing on high-voltage capacitors and power diodes used in PFC stages and power conversion circuits. The fast transient response (under 3ms at 650V) ensures the source settles quickly between test points in sweep measurements.

R&D Bench and Design Validation

The front panel 10A output terminals with optional CAT II safety plugs allow engineers to connect directly at the bench without rear-panel wiring, which suits rapid-prototype evaluation. The built-in web server and 3 preset memory sets make it practical for mixed-use labs where multiple engineers share instruments. For industrial automation and production test environments deploying DCS-3100 units in automated cells, the WATCHDOG and PRL ALM protections provide system-level fault signaling.
