What is a design rule check (DRC)?

A design rule check (DRC) is an automated verification step that checks a design against a defined set of rules before it moves to the next stage of the flow. In Xpedition Standard, the Verify tool runs DRCs on schematic connections and requirements ahead of Layout, catching issues earlier in the design cycle. Verify’s checks are organized into Rule Groups, and a design team can set a default ruleset to apply consistently across schematic designers, distinct from the separate Schematic Analysis capability in the same flow.
