Siemens EDA EBS Expert Series: 6 Free PCB Design Webinars (Jul-Aug 2026)

GSAS Engineering · · 8 min read

Siemens EDA is running six free EBS Expert Series webinars between 22 July and 27 August 2026, each a one-hour live session at 9:30 PM IST (9:00 AM US Pacific), covering HyperLynx PI power delivery validation, Xpedition design rule checking, Xpedition EDM and PLM integration, EDX design-data exchange, and intentional net shorting with Starpoints and Tiebars. GSAS Micro Systems, the authorized Siemens EDA engineering partner in India (formerly Mentor Graphics) for the Xpedition, HyperLynx, and PADS Pro portfolio, is highlighting all six sessions for Indian PCB design, signal and power integrity, and EDM teams. Each session is run directly by the Siemens EDA engineers who build and support the tool covered, not a secondhand summary of it.

Registration for every session is free and handled on Siemens EDA’s official ON24 platform. The schedule below links each session’s date and topic to its GSAS event page, where you will find the full agenda, speaker details, and the direct registration link.

HyperLynx PI: validating DC power delivery on large designs (22 July)

Validating power delivery across dozens of power networks on a modern, high PDN count PCB is a critical and time-consuming challenge as board complexity grows, and it only gets harder as designs pack in more voltage rails and finer power-plane geometry. Siemens EDA’s Zach Caprai and Kirk Fabbri walk through a demo on a large, real-world design showing how recent HyperLynx PI improvements cut the effort of setting up power networks, running DC Drop simulations, and reviewing results.

The session covers the updated Power Network Utility (easier multi-phase VRM assignment, visibility of sub-nets attached to the selected power net, default value model assignment for passive devices, and IBIS model support for resistor packs), DC Current Sink assignment at the PI Pin Group level, running a DC Drop batch simulation across 10 to 20 power networks, the new DC Drop Summary Report Table, the DC Metrics Viewer for 3D voltage drop, current density, via current, and power density, and a new lightweight HTML Viewer that needs no HyperLynx installation to share results with colleagues. Full agenda on the event page; the tool itself is HyperLynx.

Verification Rule Checker: DRC in the modern UX (28 July)

Schematic-level design rule checks only earn their keep when they are repeatable across a design team, not run ad hoc by whoever remembers to click the button before a design moves to layout. Siemens EDA’s Shannon Carrier and Rob Morrow cover the Verify tool integrated into Xpedition Designer’s Modern UX, which runs DRCs on schematic connections and requirements ahead of layout.

The session walks through setting up a default set of DRC checks for Verify, an overview of Rule Groups, whether there is a suggested starting set of DRCs, and a question that comes up often: what is the difference between Verify and Schematic Analysis. Full agenda on the event page; Verify runs inside Xpedition Standard.

Connecting ECAD and PLM with Xpedition EDM (30 July)

Keeping ECAD library and design data, part metadata, BOMs, and derived documents, synchronized with an enterprise PLM system is a persistent integration problem, and getting it wrong shows up as broken traceability between engineering, manufacturing, and supply chain teams. Siemens EDA’s Andre Mosley, Eric Mace, and Scott Claes introduce Siemens EDA’s ECAD-to-PLM integration strategy and how Xpedition EDM enables ECAD data management.

The session covers library integration use cases (part metadata, attributes, AML/MFGPN information, and synchronization between ECAD libraries and PLM), design integration use cases (project creation, save/open workflows, BOM synchronization, and derived documents), and how ECAD-to-PLM integration supports traceability, governance, reuse, and collaboration across engineering, manufacturing, procurement, and PLM teams. Full agenda on the event page; the tools covered are Xpedition Enterprise and Xpedition EDM, from the Siemens EDA portfolio.

EDM and HyperLynx best practices (19 August)

Simulation and verification data only becomes trustworthy when it is managed like any other engineering deliverable, with approval workflows and consistent naming, rather than scattered across individual engineers’ folders. Siemens EDA’s Rory Riggs and Mahmoud El-Ahmady cover managing HyperLynx analysis and verification data with Xpedition EDM.

The session covers treating simulation data as an engineering deliverable, establishing verification and approval workflows, organizing data with standard naming conventions and folder structures, improving collaboration between PCB designers and SI/PI engineers, and building a traceable digital thread between design and verification. Full agenda on the event page; this session bridges Xpedition EDM and HyperLynx.

Intentional net shorting with Starpoints and Tiebars (25 August)

PCB designers regularly need to connect two separate nets, star-point grounding is the classic case, at one specific physical location in the layout, and getting the symbol, cell, or layout requirements wrong can turn a deliberate connection into a signal integrity or manufacturing problem. Siemens EDA’s Will Crawford and Jeff Kuester cover the different ways to do this in Xpedition, from legacy shorting methods through the newer Starpoints and Tiebars approaches.

The session walks through when to use each method, the key symbol, cell, and layout requirements each approach needs, and closes with a demo showing how the methods are applied and verified. Full agenda on the event page; the methods live inside Xpedition Standard.

EDX essentials with Xpedition EDM (27 August)

Teams that are new to Xpedition EDM’s EDX design-data exchange format, or that already use it but have never had a structured walkthrough, tend to under-use the export and import options in EDM Design Cockpit simply because nobody has shown them the full picture. Siemens EDA’s Ricardo Valenzuela Acharte and Julio Ayon close out the series with an EDX essentials session aimed at both audiences.

The session covers the fundamentals of EDX and its integration within Xpedition EDM, the key benefits of EDX for organization and team productivity, and step-by-step procedures for exporting and importing EDX files in EDM Design Cockpit, illustrated with real-world test case scenarios. Full agenda on the event page; EDX operates inside Xpedition Enterprise EDM, part of the Siemens EDA portfolio.

Why these six sessions matter for Indian PCB teams

Across six sessions, this series covers the Xpedition and HyperLynx workflow end to end: power integrity validation (HyperLynx PI), schematic verification (Verify DRC), enterprise data management (Xpedition EDM, PLM integration, EDX), and layout technique (Starpoints and Tiebars). For a PCB design team in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, or Delhi NCR standing up or tightening any one of these workflows, that breadth means the series doubles as a structured curriculum rather than six unrelated talks.

Every session is presented by the Siemens EDA engineers who build or support the feature in question, a different kind of resource than a summary written after the fact. GSAS does not run these webinars, Siemens EDA does; we are simply making sure Indian teams already running or evaluating Xpedition and HyperLynx know they are happening.
