Why Do Teams Migrate to Siemens EDA from Standalone PCB Tools?

Modern boards demand multi-domain integration, concurrent team workflows, and DFM-driven manufacturing sign-off. Standalone PCB layout tools lack the verification depth and scalability these projects require.

Siemens EDA's shift-left approach moves verification and DFM analysis earlier in the design process. Problems caught early cost minutes to fix. Problems caught late cost weeks and lakhs of rupees in re-spins.

Teams across India that have outgrown standalone tools choose Xpedition for its correct-by-construction approach, integrated HyperLynx SI/PI analysis, and Valor DFM.

Shift-Left Verification

HyperLynx SI/PI and Valor DFM run inside the layout environment. Find signal integrity and manufacturing issues before they become expensive re-spins.

Token-Based Flexibility

Xpedition Standard's token model lets you activate SI, PI, rigid-flex, and ECAD-MCAD on demand. Pay only for what you use.

Manufacturing Integration

Valor NPI automates DFM/DFA checks against your fabricator's actual capabilities. One integrated flow from design to manufacturing.

Enterprise Scalability

Concurrent team design, Teamcenter PLM integration, and multi-board systems design. Start with Essentials and scale to Enterprise. Same data, zero migration pain.

HyperLynx: Signal Integrity, Power Integrity, and Electrical DRC

HyperLynx (SI + PI + DRC)

HyperLynx unifies signal integrity simulation, power integrity analysis, and electrical design-rule checking in one platform. LineSim handles pre-layout topology exploration; BoardSim verifies post-layout compliance for DDR5, PCIe Gen5, USB4, and 100G Ethernet. DC drop, AC impedance, and a genetic-algorithm decoupling optimizer deliver PDN sign-off. Built-in parameterizable electrical DRC rules catch EMI/EMC and SI violations before prototype fabrication.

Signal Integrity Power Integrity Electrical DRC DDR5 / PCIe Gen5 / USB4 Xpedition + ODB++
Siemens HyperLynx signal integrity, power integrity, and electrical DRC

HyperLynx pays for itself with one avoided board re-spin. Catch signal integrity, power integrity, and electrical rule-check issues before your first prototype.

GSAS application engineers help Indian teams configure HyperLynx for specific high-speed interfaces (DDR5, PCIe Gen5, USB4), build pre-layout topology libraries, and close the PDN impedance loop from VRM through board to IC. For teams needing FCC or BIS EMC compliance, built-in EMI rule checks provide regulatory readiness from day one.

Valor NPI: DFM Verification to Eliminate Manufacturing Re-Spins

Valor NPI

Valor NPI automates DFM, DFA, and DFT analysis against manufacturing process rules, catching producibility issues before Gerber release. It checks tombstoning, solder bridging, annular ring, testpoint accessibility, component-to-edge clearance, and paste stencil optimization against your specific fabricator and assembler rules. Supports ODB++, Gerber, and IPC-2581 data formats.

CAM350

CAM350 imports, edits, and analyzes PCB manufacturing data before fabrication. It runs DFM checks for acid traps, copper and mask slivers, solder bridging, and thermal relief errors on ODB++, IPC-2581, Gerber, and Excellon data, with panel design, stackup visualization, and netlist compare against IPC-D-356. Cross-probing works with leading PCB CAD tools such as Xpedition.

Finding a defect in design rather than on the fab floor avoids a manufacturing re-spin.

GSAS helps Indian manufacturing teams configure Valor NPI rule sets for their specific PCB fabricators and assembly partners across South and West India. The result: shorter NPI cycles and fewer manufacturing-related re-spins.

Questa FPGA Essentials (QuestaSim FPGA Edition): FPGA Simulation and Verification

Questa FPGA Essentials (QuestaSim)

Questa FPGA Essentials, also known as QuestaSim FPGA edition, provides mixed-language HDL simulation (VHDL, Verilog, SystemVerilog) and UVM-based verification in one environment. It is built on the Questa simulator line that Indian teams knew as QuestaSim and, before that, ModelSim, with a migration path for teams moving from legacy simulators. It catches the functional bugs and design errors that cause field failures in AMD/Xilinx and Intel/Altera FPGA designs, and an optional RTL lint add-on shifts coding-error detection ahead of simulation.

Mixed-Language HDL UVM Support RTL Lint Waveform Debug AMD/Xilinx & Intel/Altera FPGA
Siemens Questa FPGA Essentials verification

GSAS provides Questa FPGA Essentials licensing and training for Indian FPGA verification teams. Services include simulation methodology workshops, UVM testbench setup, and guidance on structuring a verification flow that carries forward if a design later moves from FPGA to ASIC.

Questa One: Siemens EDA Smart Verification for IC and FPGA Teams

Siemens has consolidated its Questa verification line under the Questa One brand. The former Questa hub URL now returns an HTTP 301 permanent redirect to the Questa One page, and the ModelSim URL redirects to Questa One Sim. In Siemens’ own words, Questa One is “the Siemens EDA smart verification solution powered by AI, purpose-built to address productivity gaps caused by increasing design complexities of 3DIC and chiplet-based architectures”.

Questa One is broader than a simulator. It spans four areas Indian verification teams should know by name:

Simulation Suite

Questa One Sim and five targeted engines

Questa One Sim for functional simulation, plus Sim FX (concurrent fault simulation for functional safety and DFT fault grading), Sim CX (coverage acceleration), Sim DX (DFT pattern verification with Tessent), Sim Xact (GLS X-pessimism removal) and Sim PA (power-aware simulation).

Verification IQ

Data-driven verification management

Five applications: Testplan Author (planning and traceability), Regression Navigator (regression management and root cause analysis), Coverage Analyzer (coverage closure), Compliance Advisor (FMEDA and safety compliance) and Verification Insight (metrics dashboards).

Avery Verification IP

60+ protocols, 20+ compliance test suites

Siemens publishes 60+ standard protocols and 20+ compliance test suites, spanning CXL, PCIe, NVMe, Ethernet, UCIe, AMBA, USB, automotive interfaces, memory models and control buses. The honest alternative to maintaining hand-rolled bus functional models.

Agentic Toolkit

Five agents, announced 27 February 2026

RTL Code, Lint, CDC, Verification Planning and Debug agents, exposed through model context protocols and usable from GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, Cline or Siemens' own Fuse. Siemens states it is available through an early access programme.

On performance, the one figure Siemens publishes for Questa on its EDA AI page is a 3x reduction in verification coverage closure time and a 10x reduction in the verification of design changes. That is a Siemens claim, and it is the only Questa multiplier we quote.

GSAS supplies Questa FPGA Essentials for FPGA simulation and verification today. If your requirement extends into ASIC-scale verification, safety-aware fault simulation, verification IP or agentic workflows, contact us and we will confirm current Questa One availability for your configuration rather than guess at it.
