About Xpedition Advanced

Printed circuit board panel from the Siemens Xpedition Advanced fact sheet, PCB design software available in India from GSAS

Xpedition Advanced is a Siemens EDA PCB design solution for engineers and small-to-medium teams moving to high-speed, high-density boards. Siemens introduced it with the Xpedition 2610 release as a new tier between Xpedition Standard and Xpedition Enterprise.

It covers a wide range of boards, from straightforward designs to complex, high-speed, high-density boards with demanding stackups, and adds advanced electrical constraints, routing automation, signal integrity simulation, design reuse and enhanced BluePrint documentation as complexity grows.

GSAS supplies Xpedition Advanced in India, with application engineers in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai and Delhi NCR who support evaluation, upgrades from Xpedition Standard, migration from other PCB tools, library setup and training.

Key Capabilities

AI-Assisted Productivity

  • AI-powered command prediction and the AI-enabled Product Support Copilot for product guidance inside the tool.
  • AI-assisted functional design capture, enabled through Siemens’ collaboration with CELUS, to speed up schematic creation.
  • Smart Datasheets for AI-assisted component research during design.

Component and Supply Chain Management

Engineers can research more than 625 million manufacturer part numbers, access ECAD models, use Smart Datasheets, and see sourcing insights during schematic capture and at BOM level, so part decisions and supply chain risk are handled earlier.

Schematic Design and Concurrent Teams

Hierarchical block design, ICT schematic design, integrated component search, ECAD model download, variant management and schematic/layout co-design. Concurrent multi-user schematic design lets several engineers work on the same schematic, including concurrent constraints, so organisations can add schematic capacity as teams grow.

Layout Design

Extended electrical constraints cover delay, parallelism, crosstalk and all topologies. The advanced auto-router handles differential pairs, HDI vias and length tuning. Sketch routing and sketch planning capture routing intent before detailed implementation, and circuit reuse, 3D design and rigid-flex design keep layouts consistent across projects.

Design and Library Data Management

Library creation and management, design version management, design review, compare and markup. PCB Connect adds cloud collaboration with browser-based viewing, markup, review, version compare and BOM visibility. PLM integration is available as an option.

Multi-Domain Collaboration

ECAD-MCAD co-design with NX and other mechanical design tools, to catch placement, fit, enclosure and interference issues earlier and reduce rework at integration.

Manufacturing Verification and Documentation

Valor-powered DFM checks (DFF and DFA) and manufacturing output automation, built-in BluePrint assembly and fabrication documentation, plus pack and release, assembly panel design and test probe support.

Performance Analysis

Analog/mixed-signal simulation and signal integrity simulation are included. Optional HyperLynx-powered analysis adds DDRx Wizard, integrated multi-discipline verification, intelligent design optimization, power integrity simulation, electrical rule checks and schematic analysis as requirements grow. See HyperLynx for the full analysis family.

Workflow Automation

Out-of-the-box workflows plus script-driven customisation for automating repetitive design steps.

Xpedition Advanced vs Xpedition Standard

Siemens states that Xpedition Standard and Xpedition Advanced are both professional PCB design solutions with fully interoperable libraries and designs. Both support flow concurrency (one user on the schematic and one on the layout of the same project). Xpedition Advanced adds:

CapabilityXpedition StandardXpedition Advanced
Multi-user concurrent schematic designNot includedIncluded
Electrical constraints (schematic and layout)CoreExtended high-speed
Automated routingCoreExtended (advanced auto-router)
Signal integrity simulationToken-based add-onIncluded
Rigid-flex designToken-based add-onIncluded
Advanced ECAD-MCAD co-designToken-based add-onIncluded
Panelization (BluePrint)Not includedIncluded

Designs move between the two without migration; Siemens notes that Advanced-specific capabilities may be read-only or unavailable when a design is opened in Standard.

Xpedition Advanced DS

Xpedition Advanced DS is a schematic-only version for organisations that need more concurrent schematic capacity. It provides the Advanced schematic capabilities, including multi-user concurrent schematic design. Extra schematic engineers can join a project while layout stays in Xpedition Advanced, without a full Advanced licence for every user.

Xpedition Advanced vs Xpedition Enterprise

Both are built on the same Xpedition technology. Xpedition Advanced targets individual engineers and small-to-medium teams that need design automation, schematic collaboration and efficient execution. Siemens positions Xpedition Enterprise for larger or distributed organisations that need managed design and library data, release governance and layout concurrency on top of the same design tools. Teams already relying on those enterprise capabilities should stay on Enterprise.

Licensing

Xpedition Advanced uses named-user licensing: each user has dedicated access and can work online or offline, without waiting for a shared licence.

Common questions about Xpedition Advanced

What is Xpedition Advanced?
Xpedition Advanced is a Siemens EDA PCB design solution, introduced with the Xpedition 2610 release, for individual engineers and small-to-medium teams. It brings concurrent schematic design, PCB layout, component intelligence, collaboration, manufacturing preparation and performance analysis together in one environment, with more advanced capability than Xpedition Standard for high-speed, high-density designs.
Xpedition Advanced vs Xpedition Standard: what is the difference?
Both are professional PCB design solutions with fully interoperable libraries and designs. Siemens states that Xpedition Advanced adds multi-user schematic concurrency, extended high-speed electrical constraints, advanced routing automation, sketch planning, integrated signal integrity simulation, rigid-flex design, extended BluePrint manufacturing drawings including panelization, and broader ECAD-MCAD co-design out of the box.
Xpedition Advanced vs Xpedition Enterprise: which do we need?
Siemens positions Xpedition Advanced for individual engineers and small-to-medium teams, and Xpedition Enterprise for larger or distributed organisations that need managed design and library data, release governance and layout concurrency on top of the same design tools.
What is Xpedition Advanced DS?
A schematic-only version of Xpedition Advanced. It provides the Advanced schematic capabilities, including multi-user concurrent schematic design, so organisations can add schematic engineers to a project without a full Xpedition Advanced licence for each user while layout continues in Xpedition Advanced.
Can Xpedition Standard open Xpedition Advanced designs?
Yes. Designs can be exchanged between the two, although Siemens notes that Advanced-specific capabilities may be read-only or unavailable when a design is opened in Xpedition Standard.
How do we buy Xpedition Advanced in India?
