Overview
About MaterialCenter
MaterialCenter is Cadence’s material data management system that provides a centralized, traceable repository for material properties used across simulation and design workflows. Engineering organizations typically maintain material data in scattered spreadsheets, legacy databases, and individual engineer’s files — leading to inconsistent material properties across analyses, lost test data, and no audit trail for material card provenance. MaterialCenter solves this by providing a single source of truth for material data with full traceability from raw test specimens through statistical reduction to final material cards used in FEA models.
MaterialCenter integrates directly with MSC Nastran, Marc, Adams, Digimat, and Patran, allowing analysts to pull approved material cards directly from the managed repository into their simulation models. The system supports standard material data formats (MMPDS, CMH-17, CAMPUS, MatML) and includes built-in statistical analysis tools for computing design allowables from test coupon data. Approval workflows ensure that material properties go through proper review before being released for use in production analyses, while version control and audit trails provide the documentation required for aerospace certification (e.g., NADCAP, AS9100) and automotive qualification processes.
For Indian aerospace and defence organizations managing material qualification programs and automotive companies maintaining material libraries across multiple simulation teams, MaterialCenter eliminates the data fragmentation that leads to analysis errors and certification delays. GSAS provides MaterialCenter deployment, integration with existing MSC solver workflows, and training for material data management processes.
