The MSC Software simulation portfolio, MSC Nastran, Adams, Marc, Cradle CFD, Actran, Digimat, Simufact, Romax, and VTD: is now part of Cadence. On February 23, 2026, Cadence completed its acquisition of Hexagon’s Design & Engineering business, bringing six decades of structural, multibody, CFD, and acoustic solver development under Cadence’s Physical AI and multiphysics portfolio.
For Indian engineering teams, this is a continuity story, not a disruption. The tools, file formats, solver workflows, and licensing models are unchanged, MSC Nastran is still MSC Nastran, and MSC One token pools work exactly as they did before. What changes is the scale of multiphysics capability now standing behind the MSC solvers you already run.
GSAS has supported the MSC Software portfolio across India since 2018. That relationship continues without interruption: the same local procurement, INR invoicing, certified training, and application engineering support, now backed by Cadence’s expanded multiphysics simulation line-up. We provide MSC One licensing, individual solver procurement, certified training workshops, and application engineering support from Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, and Delhi NCR.
MSC One: Unified Token-Based Licensing
One Token Pool, Every Solver
Access Nastran, Adams, Marc, Cradle CFD, Actran, Digimat, Simufact, Dytran, Romax, MSC Apex, VTD, MaterialCenter, CoSim, SimManager, and Patran from a shared license pool.
MSC One is the token-based licensing model for the MSC simulation portfolio. It gives engineering teams access to the entire portfolio through a single shared pool. Instead of buying separate solver licenses with individual maintenance contracts, teams draw tokens on demand to run any solver.
For Indian organizations juggling structural, CFD, and acoustic projects, MSC One eliminates license fragmentation and shelfware.
Token consumption varies by solver module, a base Nastran linear static run uses fewer tokens than a full Adams Car vehicle dynamics session. GSAS helps Indian teams right-size their token pool based on actual usage patterns, team size, and concurrent workflows.

MSC Nastran: Structural Finite Element Analysis
MSC Nastran is the industry-standard structural finite element solver, originally developed by NASA in the 1960s. A single solver handles linear and nonlinear statics, normal modes, frequency response, transient dynamics, buckling, fatigue, aeroelasticity, and explicit dynamics. Nastran’s solver technology is embedded in the certification workflows of virtually every major aerospace company.
Indian automotive teams use Nastran for crash simulation (SOL 700 explicit), NVH modal analysis, durability fatigue life, and thermal stress. Aerospace organizations rely on aeroelasticity (SOL 144/145/146), flutter analysis, and composite failure prediction.

Patran Pre-Processing
Geometry import, meshing, loads, boundary conditions
Patran Post-Processing
Stress, displacement, modal results visualization
Patran is the companion pre/post-processor for MSC Nastran and Marc. It handles geometry import (CATIA, NX, STEP, IGES), meshing (tet, hex, mixed), load/boundary condition setup, and results visualization in one environment.
Patran’s direct interface to Nastran and Marc eliminates format translation issues. Guided input forms expose all solver-specific features. For teams running production Nastran workflows, Patran remains the most integrated pre/post-processing environment.
Dytran: Explicit Dynamics and FSI
Dytran is the explicit dynamics solver for short-duration, high-energy events, crash and occupant safety, bird strike, blast loading, projectile penetration, and fuel tank sloshing.
Dytran’s coupled Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation models FSI by pairing Eulerian elements (fluid or explosive loading) with Lagrangian elements (structure). This enables bird strike on turbine blades, underwater explosion on ship hulls, and blast wave interaction with vehicle armor.
Indian defence teams use Dytran for IED and mine blast protection simulation. Automotive teams model crash safety. Aerospace teams analyze bird strike containment for engine certification.

SimManager supports all MSC solvers plus third-party tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, LS-DYNA) and integrates with PLM systems (Teamcenter, Windchill) for design-simulation traceability. Indian automotive OEMs with hundreds of analysts and aerospace companies with certification requirements use SimManager for process discipline that file-share workflows cannot provide.
Licensing: MSC One Tokens, Per-Solver, and Floating Options
Flexible Licensing for Every Team Size
MSC One tokens, per-solver nodelocked, floating (FlexLM), or annual subscription.
The MSC simulation portfolio is available through multiple licensing models:
- MSC One Token Pool: one shared pool accesses every MSC solver (Nastran, Adams, Marc, Cradle CFD, Actran, Digimat, Simufact, Dytran, Romax, MSC Apex, VTD, MaterialCenter, CoSim, SimManager, Patran). Users check out tokens per session; tokens return to the pool when the session ends. This eliminates shelfware, unused Nastran tokens can run Adams or Cradle CFD instead. MSC One delivers better license utilization and lower total cost than individual solver licenses.
- Per-Solver Nodelocked: single-user license tied to one machine; suited for dedicated solver users with predictable daily usage
- Floating (FlexLM): shared network licenses via FlexLM server; suited for larger teams with varying concurrent usage
- Annual Subscription: time-based licensing with automatic access to latest versions
Token consumption varies by solver complexity, a base Nastran linear static run uses fewer tokens than Adams Car vehicle dynamics or Cradle CFD external aero. GSAS helps Indian teams right-size their MSC One token pool based on usage patterns, team size, concurrent workflows, and growth plans. We also assist with migration from legacy per-solver licenses or competitive tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, COMSOL) to MSC One.
