About MSC Apex
MSC Apex is the next-generation CAE modeling environment from Cadence, designed to dramatically reduce the time required to go from CAD geometry to FEA results. Traditional CAE workflows require separate tools for geometry cleanup, meshing, solver input file creation, solving, and post-processing — a process that can consume the bulk of an analyst’s time before any simulation results are generated. Apex integrates direct geometry modeling, automatic meshing, load/boundary condition application, solving, and results visualization into a single unified environment with a modern, intuitive user interface.
Apex’s direct modeling technology enables engineers to edit and defeature CAD geometry without returning to the native CAD system — removing fillets, closing gaps, extracting mid-surfaces, and simplifying geometry for analysis directly within the modeling environment. The automatic meshing algorithms generate high-quality hex-dominant, tetrahedral, and mixed meshes without manual intervention, while the built-in Nastran-based solver handles linear static, modal, and buckling analyses natively. For problems requiring Nastran’s full solution sequence library (nonlinear, explicit, aeroelasticity), Apex exports clean input files for MSC Nastran with all model data preserved.
