Overview
About MSC Nastran
MSC Nastran is the industry-standard structural finite element solver, originally developed by NASA in the 1960s and continuously enhanced over six decades of commercial development under MSC Software (now Cadence). It is the reference solver for certification workflows in aerospace, automotive, and heavy engineering industries worldwide. Linear and nonlinear static analysis, normal modes, frequency response, transient dynamics, buckling, fatigue life prediction, aeroelasticity, and explicit dynamics are all supported within a single solver framework, making Nastran the most versatile structural FEA platform available.
For Indian automotive teams, MSC Nastran handles crash simulation (SOL 700 explicit), NVH modal analysis, durability fatigue life prediction, and thermal stress analysis. For Indian aerospace and defence organizations, aeroelasticity (SOL 144/145/146), flutter analysis, and composite failure prediction are production-critical capabilities. Nastran’s high-performance computing scalability — GPU-accelerated solvers (ACMS) and distributed memory parallel (DMP) — enables large model solutions on multi-node clusters, essential for full-vehicle and full-airframe models exceeding tens of millions of degrees of freedom.
GSAS provides MSC Nastran licensing in India with INR invoicing, HPC solver benchmarking, and certified training workshops covering linear dynamics, nonlinear analysis (SOL 400), aeroelasticity, and optimization workflows. Available as individual solver licenses or through the MSC One token pool for teams that also use Adams, Marc, Cradle CFD, or other Cadence simulation tools.
