About Romax

Romax is Cadence’s drivetrain simulation platform purpose-built for the design, analysis, and optimization of gear systems, bearings, shafts, housings, and complete powertrain assemblies. Unlike general-purpose FEA that requires extensive modeling expertise to set up gear contact problems, Romax provides a specialized engineering environment where drivetrain engineers work with gear, bearing, and shaft objects directly — designing transmission layouts, predicting bearing life, analyzing gear contact stress patterns, and optimizing NVH behavior within a single integrated workflow.

The Romax platform comprises specialized modules: Romax Enduro for concept design and system-level durability analysis, Romax Evolve for detailed gear micro-geometry optimization, Romax Spin for drivetrain NVH and vibration analysis, and Romax Nexus for the cloud-based design exploration platform. With the electrification of automotive powertrains, Romax has become critical for eDrive development — designing eAxle reduction gears, predicting electric motor whine (gear mesh harmonics coupled with electromagnetic excitation), and optimizing efficiency across drive cycle operating points. The platform handles spur, helical, bevel, planetary, and cycloidal gear systems with detailed tooth contact analysis.

For Indian automotive companies developing electric vehicle powertrains, industrial gearbox manufacturers, and wind energy companies designing wind turbine gearboxes, Romax provides the specialized drivetrain simulation that general-purpose CAE tools cannot match. GSAS provides Romax licensing, eDrive NVH workshop training, and application support for drivetrain development teams in India.
