Overview
About Virtual Test Drive X (VTD X)
Virtual Test Drive X (VTD X) is the next-generation evolution of the Cadence VTD driving simulation platform, redesigned with a cloud-native, containerized architecture for massive-scale autonomous vehicle validation. Where VTD provides the established desktop and HiL simulation workflow, VTD X is built from the ground up for the cloud-scale scenario execution that L3+ autonomous driving development demands — running thousands of simulation instances in parallel across cloud infrastructure to achieve the billions of virtual test kilometers required for safety validation.
VTD X introduces enhanced physics-based sensor models with improved fidelity for ray-traced LiDAR, physically-based rendering for camera simulation, and electromagnetic wave propagation for radar modeling. The containerized architecture enables deployment on private clouds, public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), or hybrid environments, with orchestration tooling that manages scenario distribution, result collection, and pass/fail analysis across massive parallel runs. Support for OpenSCENARIO 2.0 enables more expressive scenario descriptions with declarative scenario specification, making it easier to define complex traffic scenarios and edge cases for autonomous driving validation.
For Indian automotive organizations investing in autonomous driving development — particularly those building L3+ highway pilot and urban autonomy systems — VTD X provides the scalable simulation infrastructure needed to generate statistically meaningful safety evidence. GSAS provides VTD X licensing, cloud deployment guidance, and integration support for Indian ADAS/AD programs.
