About Analog Discovery Pro ADP5470

The Digilent Analog Discovery Pro ADP5470 is a 4-channel, 8-bit, 350 MHz bandwidth mixed signal oscilloscope from Digilent (an Emerson company, formerly NI). Part of the ADP 5000 Series, the ADP5470 delivers 1.5 GS/s per-channel sampling across four BNC-connected analog inputs combined with a 34-channel logic analyzer at 1 GS/s, a 14-bit arbitrary waveform generator, protocol analysis, and deep buffer memory — all in a rack-mountable metal enclosure with USB-C and Ethernet connectivity.

The ADP5470 is the bandwidth-and-sample-depth workhorse of the 5000 Series. Its 350 MHz analog front end and 1.5 GS/s per-channel digitizer capture the fundamental and harmonics of embedded clocks, switching-converter edges, and high-speed serial pre-emphasis, while the 34-channel logic analyzer at 1 GS/s correlates digital bus activity on the same timebase. Its sibling, the ADP5490, extends the same platform to 500 MHz bandwidth and 2 GS/s per channel when more analog headroom is required.

34-Channel Logic Analyzer

The integrated 34-channel logic analyzer at 1 GS/s enables simultaneous analog and digital domain analysis on a unified timebase. This is essential for mixed-signal embedded system debug where engineers need to correlate bus transactions (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN) with analog signal behavior — power supply transients during communication bursts, clock jitter correlated with digital switching, or analog front-end noise triggered by digital activity.

Applications

The ADP5470 targets R&D engineers working with high-speed embedded systems, power electronics, signal integrity analysis, and mixed-signal system validation. The 350 MHz bandwidth captures the fundamental and lower harmonics of signals up to ~70 MHz, covering most embedded system clock speeds, high-speed serial interfaces, and switching power converter waveforms.
