Overview
About Arty S7
The Digilent Arty S7 is an entry-level FPGA development board built on the Xilinx Spartan-7 family — the lowest-cost, lowest-power 7-series FPGA offering from AMD/Xilinx. Available in two variants (S7-25 with 23,360 logic cells and S7-50 with 52,160 logic cells), it provides 256 MB DDR3L memory, 128 Mbit Quad-SPI flash, a 100 MHz external clock with internal speeds exceeding 450 MHz, and an on-chip XADC analog-to-digital converter. Full compatibility with the free Vivado WebPACK edition makes the Arty S7 the most accessible entry point into Xilinx FPGA development.

Arduino shield compatibility provides access to hundreds of existing sensor and communication shields, while four Pmod connectors support Digilent’s ecosystem of add-on modules for rapid prototyping. The on-board switches, buttons, and LEDs provide immediate I/O for learning exercises and quick verification. USB-powered operation and USB-JTAG programming eliminate the need for external programmers or power supplies.
Watch the Arty S7 introduction
For students, hobbyists, and engineers evaluating Spartan-7 for cost-optimized designs, the Arty S7 delivers a complete development environment at the lowest entry cost in the Digilent FPGA portfolio. The S7-25 suits introductory coursework and small logic designs, while the S7-50 provides enough capacity for soft processor implementations and more complex digital systems. GSAS Micro Systems provides the Arty S7 with variant selection guidance and Pmod accessory recommendations for academic and prototyping applications across India.
