Overview
About Nexys A7
The Digilent Nexys A7 is a mid-range FPGA development board based on the Xilinx Artix-7 100T, offering substantially more logic capacity (101,440 cells), memory, and I/O than entry-level boards. With 128 MB DDR2 cellular RAM, 16 MB Quad-SPI flash, a microSD slot, 10/100 Ethernet, USB host port, VGA output, and a full complement of switches, LEDs, and 7-segment displays, the Nexys A7 supports advanced projects including soft processor systems, networking stacks, and video processing pipelines.
The board retains the same educational accessibility as the Basys 3, 16 switches, 16 LEDs, buttons, and a 4-digit 7-segment display for immediate I/O feedback, while adding the memory, networking, and storage interfaces needed for upper-level coursework and capstone projects. Four Pmod connectors and an accelerometer extend the platform further.

The Nexys A7 is the standard recommendation for advanced digital design, computer organization, and embedded systems courses where students implement MicroBlaze or RISC-V soft processors with memory controllers, Ethernet peripherals, and file system access. The 100T FPGA provides enough logic capacity for multi-core processor designs and complex peripheral buses. GSAS Micro Systems provides the Nexys A7 with Pmod accessory recommendations and academic volume pricing for universities and training centers across India.

Real-World SDR Applications: 5G Research, Satellites, IoT and ADS-B
Where software defined radio actually earns its place: 5G and 6G waveform research, spectrum monitoring, weather satellite reception, GNSS work, LoRaWAN debugging, aircraft tracking over 1090 MHz, and reconfigurable instrument prototyping. A practical map from GSAS Micro Systems, an authorized Digilent engineering partner in India, with a framework for matching a USRP platform to the job.
What Is Software Defined Radio (SDR)? A Practical Explainer for Indian Engineering Teams
Software defined radio moves the work of filtering, modulation and demodulation out of fixed hardware and into software running on processors and FPGAs. This explainer from GSAS Micro Systems covers what SDR is, how it differs from a traditional radio, what the signal chain looks like, why the FPGA matters, and how to pick a USRP radio in India.
ZedBoard FPGA-in-the-Loop: HDL Verifier vs HDL Coder
Teams asking for FPGA-in-the-Loop on a ZedBoard usually name HDL Coder and SoC Blockset. FIL is actually HDL Verifier. Here is the correct product split, the JTAG versus Ethernet decision, and the 2015-era advice that is still sending Indian teams down the wrong path.
