About 6360 Series LCR Meter

The Microtest 6360 Series is a family of production-grade LCR meters covering a frequency range from 1 mHz to 1 MHz with 0.05% basic accuracy and 4-terminal Kelvin connection for precise, repeatable impedance measurements. Five models span different maximum frequency ranges to match application requirements and budgets, from the 6363 (20 kHz) for standard passive component inspection through the 6367 (1 MHz) for higher-frequency characterization of inductors, capacitors, and resistors.

Microtest 6360 series LCR meter, precision component measurement

The 4-terminal Kelvin connection eliminates lead and contact resistance errors from the measurement path, ensuring that milliohm-level ESR readings and low-value resistance measurements reflect the actual component characteristics rather than fixture parasitics. This is essential for production environments where test fixture contacts wear over thousands of insertion cycles — the Kelvin technique maintains measurement integrity regardless of contact condition.

Production and Quality Control Applications

Multi-bin sorting classifies components into tolerance grades automatically, enabling passive component manufacturers to grade production output by measured value and ship components with appropriate tolerance markings. Handler interfaces connect the 6360 Series to automated component feeding and sorting systems for fully automated reel-to-reel and tray-based testing workflows.

Incoming QC and goods-inward inspection is the primary deployment scenario for the 6360 Series in Indian electronics manufacturing. Component distributors and contract manufacturers use the 6360 to verify that incoming passive components meet datasheet specifications before they enter the production line — catching counterfeit, out-of-spec, or moisture-damaged components before they cause assembly defects or field failures.

Reel testing workflows measure components directly from tape-and-reel packaging using automated feeders, verifying every component on incoming reels or sampling at defined AQL levels. The combination of fast measurement speed, multi-bin sorting, and handler interfaces makes the 6360 Series well-suited for high-volume incoming inspection where thousands of components per hour must be verified.

Production-line verification integrates the 6360 into manufacturing processes where wound inductors, assembled capacitor banks, or resistor networks require 100% testing before advancing to the next production stage. Programmable test sequences execute multi-parameter measurements at multiple frequencies in a single cycle, generating comprehensive component profiles for SPC trend monitoring.

Open/short/load correction compensates for fixture parasitics, maintaining specified accuracy across different test fixtures and cable lengths. The correction values can be stored per test program, allowing rapid changeover between different DUT types without re-running compensation routines.
