About SuperGuard Library Safety Qualification Suite
SuperGuard is the Library Safety Qualification Suite from Solid Sands, which the company describes as “the industry’s most rigorous safety qualification suite for C and C++ libraries”. The C and C++ standard libraries that safety-critical code calls every day, memcpy, printf, the math functions, the allocators, are themselves software, and under standards like IEC 62304 they count as Software of Unknown Provenance (SOUP). SuperGuard provides the evidence to justify them.

Requirements Traceability for the Standard Library
Per Solid Sands, SuperGuard provides a detailed breakdown of the ISO C and C++ library specifications into requirements and tests, with full requirements traceability between those requirements and the tests for the standard libraries. That traceability is what auditors look for: a clear line from each library requirement, derived from the language specification, to the test that exercises it and the coverage that test achieves.
C and C++ Library Qualification with MC/DC Coverage
SuperGuard provides high structural code coverage and MC/DC for library implementations out of the box, with reporting that produces full requirements traceability for compliance documentation. Under ISO 26262, Solid Sands notes that a pre-existing route can qualify a library up to ASIL C from binaries, while ASIL D requires structural code coverage analysis, for which the library source code is needed.
IEC 62304 SOUP: Qualifying the C and C++ Standard Library
Under IEC 62304, a standard C or C++ library that a project adopts rather than develops in-house is treated as Software of Unknown Provenance (SOUP), which a manufacturer must assess and justify. SuperGuard produces that justification: it breaks the ISO library specification into requirements and tests and reports structural code coverage and MC/DC for the library implementation, so the standard library moves from “unknown provenance” to qualified evidence in your safety file.
Editions and C and C++ Library Coverage
SuperGuard covers the C standard library, and in its C++ Core configuration adds a core set of the most-demanded C++ standard-library headers, with additional headers available on request, because the C++ headers build on the C functions. C++ Core provides full support for C++11, C++14, and C++17, covering standard-library headers such as <utility>, <type_traits>, <array>, <exception>, and <system_error>, alongside the C-for-C++ headers from <cassert> through <cwctype>. Concurrency and utility headers such as <atomic>, <chrono>, <mutex>, <thread>, and <condition_variable> are also available on request. The test platform runs on Windows and Linux, supports bare-metal targets, and produces a CSV report that links requirements, test specifications, and results. It is licensed as an annual subscription that includes updates, maintenance, and support, provided locally in India by GSAS.
Applications
SuperGuard qualifies both third-party / COTS standard libraries and self-developed implementations for automotive, medical, aerospace, and semiconductor projects. It pairs with SuperTest, which qualifies the compiler itself, so a team can present qualification evidence for the complete C/C++ toolchain rather than just the application code that runs on top of it.
