Overview
About Adams
MSC Adams, now part of the Cadence portfolio, is a multibody dynamics (MBD) simulation platform. Adams (Automatic Dynamic Analysis of Mechanical Systems) models the full-vehicle or subsystem-level dynamic behavior of mechanical systems: suspension kinematics and compliance, powertrain dynamics, steering response, ride and handling, and durability load prediction. Unlike simplified analytical models or rigid-body approximations, Adams captures the full nonlinear dynamics of interconnected rigid and flexible bodies with realistic joint, bushing, contact, and force element representations.
Is It MSC Adams or Cadence Adams?
Both names refer to the same product, and the reason there are two is a change of owner rather than a change of tool.
Adams was developed and sold as MSC Adams by MSC Software. MSC Software became part of Hexagon, and on 23 February 2026 Cadence completed its acquisition of Hexagon’s Design and Engineering business, the division that builds the MSC Software simulation portfolio along with Cradle CFD, Actran, Romax and VTD. Adams therefore now sits inside Cadence.
For an engineering team, the practical answer is:
| Question | Answer |
|---|---|
| Is MSC Adams discontinued? | No. The product continues under Cadence with the same name and the same solver behaviour. |
| Do my existing models still work? | Yes. Models, decks, scripts and file formats are unaffected by the change of owner. |
| Does MSC One licensing still apply? | Yes. The MSC One token pool continues to work as a single shared pool across the solver portfolio, alongside per-solver and floating options. |
| Who supports Adams in India? | GSAS Micro Systems remains an authorized engineering partner in India for the MSC simulation portfolio, with INR invoicing and local application engineering. |

Adams Modules and Coupling
Adams Car, Adams Chassis, and Adams Driveline provide template-based modeling environments for rapid vehicle dynamics studies, from suspension K&C analysis through full-vehicle ride and handling events to road load prediction for durability testing. Adams co-simulates with MSC Nastran for flexible body dynamics (Adams Flex) and with controls models (Adams Controls via FMI/Simulink coupling) for mechatronic system analysis. For Indian automotive OEMs and tier-1 suppliers developing suspension systems, EV powertrains, and autonomous vehicle platforms, Adams provides the vehicle dynamics fidelity that simplified analytical models cannot deliver.
GSAS delivers Adams licensing in India along with training workshops for automotive teams covering suspension modeling, driveline dynamics, and Adams-Nastran flexible body integration. Our application engineers assist with model setup, template customization, and Adams-Controls coupling for mechatronic system development. Teams in Bengaluru, Pune, Chennai, Hyderabad, Mumbai and Delhi NCR are supported by local GSAS application engineers.
