Overview
About GDS-3104A
The GDS-3104A is GW Instek’s flagship 1 GHz digital storage oscilloscope, delivering 5 GSa/s real-time sampling, 200 Mega points memory per channel, and 13 built-in power analysis measurements including efficiency, switching loss, SOA, bode plot (PSRR), and magnetics (B-H curve). A dual-channel spectrum analyzer covering DC to 2.5 GHz with spectrogram display provides frequency-domain troubleshooting alongside time-domain capture.

| Sampling Rate | 5 GSa/s real-time |
| Memory Depth | 200 Mpts per channel |
| Segmented Memory | 490,000 segments with waveform search |
| Power Analysis | 13 tests: efficiency, switching loss, SOA, PSRR, B-H curve |
| Spectrum Analyzer | Dual-channel, DC to 2.5 GHz with spectrogram |
| Serial Decode | I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, LIN |
| Built-in AWG | Dual-channel 25 MHz arbitrary waveform generator |
| Display | 10.2-inch TFT LCD |
| MSO Option | 16 digital channels |
The 490,000-segment memory with waveform search enables efficient long-duration recording and anomaly detection, making it possible to capture rare glitches and timing violations over extended observation windows. Serial bus decoding for I2C, UART, SPI, CAN, and LIN protocols supports embedded system debugging with protocol-level triggering and decoded data display.
Power electronics engineers benefit from the 13 integrated power analysis measurements that eliminate the need for dedicated power analyzers during SMPS development, while the built-in dual-channel 25 MHz arbitrary waveform generator removes the requirement for an external signal source during stimulus-response testing. The optional 16-channel MSO capability adds digital logic analysis for true mixed-signal debugging.

A motor drive bench powered at its DC link terminals needs a bus that supplies the drive and takes energy back when the motor brakes. How one bidirectional source, sized against the real bus voltage, replaces the supply, blocking diode and load.
