About PEL-5000C Series

The GW Instek PEL-5000C Series is a high-power compact programmable DC electronic load built for high-current, high-voltage validation of power supplies, EV chargers, EV batteries and renewable-energy sources. A single unit covers a power range of 6 kW to 24 kW in 150 V, 600 V and 1200 V voltage classes, and up to 8 units run in master/slave parallel to deliver a maximum system power of 192 kW: so the same platform scales from a single high-power bench load to a full 192 kW electronic load test bay. GW Instek’s official application statement is direct: the PEL-5000C “can test and verify the specifications of batteries, electric vehicle chargers/charging stations, electric vehicle batteries and solar panels.”

As the authorized GW Instek engineering partner in India, GSAS Micro Systems positions the PEL-5000C as the high power DC load India battery, charging-station and renewable-energy teams reach for when ordinary benchtop loads run out of headroom.

The family spans 24 models (PEL-5006C through PEL-5024C) and supports flexible CC, CR, CV, CP, CC+CV (CV with current limit), CV+CP (CV with power limit), dynamic and short-circuit operating modes, with a 5-digit voltage, current and power meter and a large LCD for at-a-glance readout.

GW Instek PEL-5000C high-power programmable DC electronic load available in India from GSAS Micro Systems

A high-power programmable DC electronic load: 6kW to 24kW per unit

The PEL-5000C is a programmable DC load designed where ordinary benchtop loads run out of headroom. Each unit handles 6 kW to 24 kW and is offered in 150 V, 600 V and 1200 V models so engineers can match the voltage class to the source under test, low-voltage high-current rails on the 150 V models, and high-voltage DC-bus, inverter and PFC stages on the 600 V and 1200 V models. With up to 8 units in master/slave parallel control reaching 192 kW, the series covers everything from a single power-supply line to large EV-battery and charger test stations on one common control platform.

Electronic load operating modes: CC, CR, CV, CP and dynamic

The PEL-5000C provides the full set of constant-mode operations expected of a professional electronic load: constant current (CC), constant resistance (CR), constant voltage (CV) and constant power (CP), plus combination modes CC+CV (CV with current limit) and CV+CP (CV with power limit), a dynamic mode for transient/step-load testing with adjustable rising and falling slew rate, and a short-circuit mode with settable short-circuit time. The instrument can also automatically perform OCP and OPP tests, run an inrush-current test mode, store up to 150 parameter sets, set the power-on state value and display voltage polarity as ”+” or ”−”: and it supports solar-panel MPPT testing, making it a single tool for source characterisation, protection verification and renewable-energy work.

Battery discharge test modes: EV, charger and energy-storage validation

For energy-storage work the PEL-5000C includes four dedicated battery discharge test modes, CC+CV, CP+CV, CC+UVP and CP+UVP: alongside time-period discharge, pulse discharge and RAMP discharge with adjustable slew rate. Engineers can set a fixed discharge time, discharge in pulsed-current mode, or ramp the load to profile real-world behaviour, with under-voltage-protection (UVP) cut-off to stop the test safely. This makes the PEL-5000C well suited to verifying the specifications of EV batteries, electric-vehicle chargers and charging stations, and grid/storage cells.

EV charger test load, battery test electronic load and MPPT test load in one platform

For India’s fast-growing EV and renewable-energy programmes, the PEL-5000C consolidates three high-power test roles into a single instrument. As an EV charger test load it loads DC fast chargers and charging stations across the 150 V, 600 V and 1200 V classes to verify output regulation, droop and protection at full rated power. As a battery test electronic load it discharges EV battery packs and energy-storage cells in CC/CP with CV or under-voltage cut-off, including pulse and RAMP profiles, to characterise real cycle behaviour. And as an MPPT test load it runs GW Instek’s solar-panel MPPT test mode to exercise photovoltaic panels and validate maximum-power-point tracking. These capabilities map directly onto GSAS’s EV & energy systems solutions, where high-power DC loading underpins battery, charger and solar validation. Note that the PEL-5000C is a high-power dissipative DC load; teams that require a regenerative (energy-recycling) load, for example AC source/UPS work, should look at the GW Instek AEL-5000 AC & DC electronic load, which GSAS supplies alongside the PEL-5000C.
