About Joulescope JS110

Note: The JS110 has been discontinued. The Joulescope JS320 is the current-generation Joulescope, with a 24-bit measurement path and improved low-current accuracy. For current orders, see the JS320.

The Joulescope JS110 is a precision DC energy analyzer designed for embedded systems power profiling. With 1.5 nA current resolution across a 32-bit dynamic range, the JS110 captures power behavior from microamp sleep currents to 3 A continuous (10 A pulse) active loads — the full operating envelope of battery-powered embedded devices. Simultaneous 14-bit ADCs sampling at 2 Msps measure current and voltage concurrently with 250 kHz bandwidth, resolving fast transients like wireless transmission bursts, sensor wake-ups, and regulator switching artifacts.

Joulescope JS110, precision DC energy analyzer for embedded power profiling

Rapid 1 microsecond switching between shunt resistors provides dynamic current measurement with no gaps in the data stream, eliminating the dead zones that plague traditional autoranging instruments. Electrical isolation between sensor ports and USB prevents ground loops between the measurement instrument and the device under test. The Joulescope UI application (Windows, macOS, Linux) provides real-time visualization of current, voltage, power, and energy with unlimited capture duration for multi-day battery life validation.

The JS110 established the Joulescope platform as the standard tool for embedded power profiling, enabling engineers to measure actual battery life under real firmware behavior, identify unexpected wake events, and quantify the energy cost of individual firmware operations. Later generations extend the specifications, culminating in the current Joulescope JS320 with 0.1 nA resolution and a 24-bit measurement path; the JS110 is a discontinued first-generation instrument retained here for reference. Swappable front panels (banana jack, BNC, USB, binding post) adapt the JS110 to different bench and fixture configurations.
