About Microtest 5260 Transformer Tester (20-Channel)
The Microtest 5260 Transformer Tester provides 20-channel low-voltage parameter measurement for transformer production testing across a frequency range of 10 Hz to 1 MHz with ±0.1% basic accuracy. Measuring turns ratio, inductance, leakage inductance, DC resistance, phase polarity, and winding balance, the 5260 delivers comprehensive electrical characterization of transformers in a single automated test sequence. The integrated LCR meter mode extends the instrument’s utility beyond transformer testing to general passive component measurement.

20-Channel Transformer Testing
The 20-channel capacity covers the majority of production transformer designs, power transformers, switch-mode transformer designs, telecom isolation transformers, PoE magnetics, current transformers, and gate drive transformers. The electronic scanner matrix routes measurement signals to each winding pair automatically, executing the programmed test sequence across all channel combinations without manual reconnection. Programmable test sequences define the measurement parameters, test frequency, and pass/fail limits for each winding combination, and BIN classification enables automated sorting by performance grade.
Wide Frequency Range
The 10 Hz to 1 MHz frequency range covers the full spectrum of transformer operating frequencies. Low-frequency measurement (10 Hz to 1 kHz) characterizes power transformers operating at mains frequencies, while mid- and high-frequency measurement (10 kHz to 1 MHz) characterizes switch-mode transformers, PoE magnetics, and high-frequency inductors at their actual operating frequencies. Testing at the component’s operating frequency provides more meaningful parameter values than single-frequency measurement, catching frequency-dependent defects such as core losses, proximity effects, and resonance issues.
LCR Meter Mode
The integrated LCR meter mode transforms the 5260 into a general-purpose passive component analyzer, measuring inductance, capacitance, and resistance at selectable test frequencies. This dual-purpose capability makes the 5260 a versatile instrument for facilities that test both transformers and discrete passive components, eliminating the need for a separate standalone LCR meter for general component verification.
Applications
Transformer manufacturers, switch-mode power supply producers, PoE magnetics companies, and incoming inspection departments deploy the 5260 for 100% production testing and quality sorting. Indian manufacturers producing magnetics for domestic and export markets benefit from the automated BIN sorting and test documentation that meet global OEM quality requirements.
