About RYB5510 Multi-Protocol Wireless Module

The REYAX RYB5510 is a multi-protocol wireless module built on the Nordic Semiconductor nRF5340, the industry’s first dual-core Bluetooth 5.4 SoC. The module supports Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, Thread, Matter, and Zigbee on a single hardware platform, enabling product designs that can participate in the emerging Matter smart home ecosystem while maintaining backward compatibility with established BLE and Zigbee device networks. The dual-core Arm Cortex-M33 architecture dedicates the network core (64 MHz) to radio protocol processing and the application core (128 MHz) to user firmware, preventing wireless stack activity from disrupting time-critical application tasks.

Matter-Ready Architecture

Matter is the unified smart home connectivity standard backed by Apple, Google, Amazon, and Samsung, built on Thread and BLE transport layers. The RYB5510’s native support for both Thread (IEEE 802.15.4) and BLE 5.4 makes it a natural platform for Matter device development. Thread provides the mesh networking layer for always-on devices like light switches, sensors, and thermostats, while BLE handles device commissioning and setup via smartphone apps. The nRF5340’s dual-core architecture runs the Matter application logic on the 128 MHz application core while the 64 MHz network core manages the Thread and BLE radio stacks independently, ensuring consistent wireless performance regardless of application complexity.

Zigbee 3.0 support enables the RYB5510 to integrate with the large installed base of Zigbee smart home devices, providing a migration path from Zigbee-only deployments to Matter-enabled ecosystems. BLE 5.4 features including long range (coded PHY), direction finding (angle of arrival, angle of departure), and extended advertising enable applications beyond smart home — asset tracking, indoor positioning, and industrial sensor networks benefit from the RYB5510’s advanced Bluetooth capabilities.

Security and Processing Power

The STM32WBA55 includes Arm TrustZone for hardware-enforced security boundaries between trusted and untrusted code. The 1 MB flash and 512 KB RAM on the application core provide ample resources for complex application logic, sensor fusion, edge processing, and protocol translation tasks that would overflow more constrained SoCs.

The AT command interface over UART provides an integration path for host MCU designs that want to add wireless connectivity without developing firmware for the nRF5340 directly. For designs that require custom firmware on the nRF5340, Nordic’s nRF Connect SDK provides a comprehensive development environment with reference implementations for all supported protocols.

Smart home devices targeting Matter certification, building automation systems bridging Zigbee and Thread networks, industrial IoT sensor nodes requiring BLE long-range connectivity, and asset tracking applications using BLE direction finding are primary deployment scenarios for the RYB5510.

GSAS Micro Systems provides REYAX RYB5510 modules from Indian inventory with INR invoicing, along with protocol selection guidance, Matter development support, and antenna performance evaluation for multi-protocol wireless projects across India.
