About J-Link BASE Compact

J-Link BASE Compact

The J-Link BASE Compact is SEGGER’s entry-level debug probe in its smallest commercial form factor, functionally identical to the standard J-Link BASE with no code-size limits on debugging. It runs the same J-Link firmware as the PRO and ULTRA models and draws on the same device database spanning tens of thousands of devices. The licensed software add-ons, Unlimited Flash Breakpoints, J-Flash, and the Ozone debugger, come with the J-Link PLUS and above, or via SEGGER’s BASE-to-PLUS upgrade.

Supporting Arm Cortex-M/A/R and RISC-V architectures with download speeds up to 1 MB/s, the BASE Compact handles everyday development workflows with ease. RTT provides high-speed bidirectional communication for debug output, SWO enables trace-based profiling, and GDB Server ensures compatibility with every major IDE and editor.

At just 46 x 46 x 17 mm and 20 grams, with USB-C connectivity and two mounting holes for direct integration into fixtures, the BASE Compact fits into any workspace, test rig, or end equipment. Free software and firmware updates ensure long-term value and ongoing compatibility with new silicon releases.

Common questions about J-Link BASE Compact

What is the price of the SEGGER J-Link BASE Compact in India?
GSAS Micro Systems, SEGGER's authorized engineering partner in India, offers the J-Link BASE Compact with competitive pricing and short lead times. Request a quote for current INR pricing with GST-compliant invoicing.
Is the J-Link BASE Compact the entry point to commercial J-Link probes?
Yes. The BASE tier is SEGGER's entry-level commercial J-Link, and the Compact is its smallest form factor. The lower-priced J-Link EDU Mini exists, but SEGGER restricts it to non-profit educational use only, so the BASE models are where professional work starts.
What is the difference between the BASE Compact and the standard J-Link BASE?
Form factor. Both run the same firmware, support the same devices, and sit in the same download-speed class; the BASE Compact packs identical function into a 46 x 46 x 17 mm, 20 gram housing with USB-C and mounting holes for fixtures.
Does the J-Link BASE Compact include J-Flash or unlimited flash breakpoints?
No. Like the standard BASE, it ships with Flash Download, GDB Server, and RTT; the Unlimited Flash Breakpoints, J-Flash, and Ozone licenses come with the J-Link PLUS and above, or via SEGGER's BASE-to-PLUS upgrade. Debugging itself has no code-size limits.
