About PicoLog ADC-20 & ADC-24
The PicoLog ADC-20 and ADC-24 from Pico Technology are precision data acquisition units designed for applications where measurement accuracy and noise rejection are paramount. The ADC-20 provides 20-bit resolution while the ADC-24 delivers 24-bit resolution, and both feature true differential inputs, galvanic isolation from the host PC, and seven software-selectable input ranges from +/-39 mV to +/-2500 mV. This combination of high resolution, differential measurement capability, and galvanic isolation makes them suitable for environmental monitoring, strain gauge measurement, thermocouple logging, and any application where microvolt-level signals must be captured accurately over extended periods.

The galvanic isolation is a critical differentiator: it breaks ground loops between the measurement system and the host computer, eliminating a common source of noise and measurement error in data acquisition systems connected to grounded sensors or industrial equipment. Seven software-selectable input ranges allow the ADC-20 and ADC-24 to match their gain to the signal amplitude, maximizing effective resolution across applications ranging from thermocouple cold-junction compensation (millivolt signals) to process voltage monitoring (volt-level signals). Both units are USB bus-powered, requiring no external supply.

The ADC-24 extends the ADC-20’s capability with four additional digital I/O channels for alarm outputs or control signals, an optional screw-terminal board for simplified wiring in permanent installations, and the higher 24-bit resolution that provides finer quantization for the most demanding precision measurement applications. Both models include PicoLog 6 data logging software with cloud connectivity, and PicoSDK for integration into custom MATLAB, LabVIEW, C, or Python applications.
