About Beagle USB 12 Protocol Analyzer
The Beagle USB 12 Protocol Analyzer is a compact, non-intrusive USB bus monitor that captures Full-Speed (12 Mbps) and Low-Speed (1.5 Mbps) USB traffic in real time with 21 ns timing resolution. Captured data streams via High-Speed USB to the host computer for nearly limitless capture depth exceeding 25 GB, enabling extended monitoring sessions without buffer constraints. At just 64 grams and USB bus-powered, the Beagle USB 12 fits in a laptop bag for portable development and field debugging.

Real-time capture and display shows USB packets and USB-specific error code values as they occur on the bus, enabling immediate identification of protocol violations, stall conditions, and enumeration failures. USB descriptor decoding in the Data Center Software presents device descriptors, configuration descriptors, and class-specific descriptors in human-readable format for rapid device analysis. The Beagle Software API and LabVIEW driver enable scripted capture and automated analysis for production test integration.
USB Analysis Use Cases
- HID device development: Monitor keyboard, mouse, game controller, and custom HID device transactions to debug report descriptors, polling intervals, and interrupt transfer behavior.
- CDC/ACM serial devices: Capture virtual COM port communication to verify baud rate negotiation, flow control, and data integrity for USB-to-serial converters and embedded debug consoles.
- Embedded USB peripherals: Analyze enumeration sequences, control transfers, and bulk/interrupt endpoints during firmware development for USB-connected sensors, actuators, and data acquisition devices.
- USB compliance verification: Verify descriptor structures, timing parameters, and protocol behavior before formal certification testing.
- Production testing: Automate USB functional verification using the API to capture, parse, and generate pass/fail reports in manufacturing test systems.
The Beagle USB 12 is the entry point in Total Phase’s protocol analyzer lineup, providing essential USB Low-Speed and Full-Speed analysis capability for teams that do not require High-Speed (480 Mbps) monitoring. For applications requiring High-Speed capture, the Beagle USB 480 extends coverage to 480 Mbps with on-board buffering and class-level decoding.
GSAS Micro Systems provides the Beagle USB 12 with local technical support, applications guidance, and selection assistance for USB development teams across India.
