Overview
About Beagle USB 5000 v2 SuperSpeed Protocol Analyzer
The Beagle USB 5000 v2 is Total Phase’s flagship USB protocol analyzer, providing simultaneous USB 3.0 SuperSpeed (5 Gbps) and USB 2.0 capture on a single device. With 2 nanosecond timing resolution for USB 3.0 packets (8x finer than the USB 480 series), a massive 4 GB on-board buffer, and 8-state advanced triggering, it delivers deep visibility into SuperSpeed device behavior.
USB 3.0 Analysis Features
| Feature | Specification |
|---|---|
| USB 3.0 SuperSpeed | 5 Gbps capture and decode |
| USB 2.0 Simultaneous | 480/12/1.5 Mbps on same device |
| Timing Resolution | 2 ns (USB 3.0), 16.67 ns (USB 2.0) |
| On-Board Buffer | 4 GB |
| Trigger Engine | 8 independent states |
| Class Decoding | MSC/BOT, MSC/UAS, HID, Audio, Video |
| Error Detection | CRC, 8b/10b disparity, elastic buffer, link-layer |
| Multi-Analyzer Sync | HDMI cable for hub-level debugging |
| Trigger I/O | SMA (USB 3.0) + Mini-DIN 9 (USB 2.0) |

Multi-analyzer synchronization via HDMI sync cables enables simultaneous hub-level debugging across multiple USB 3.0 ports. Real-time class decoding covers USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 classes including MSC/BOT, MSC/UAS, HID, Audio, and Video. Low-level error detection automatically identifies CRC errors, 8b/10b disparity errors, elastic buffer overflows, and link-layer protocol violations. SMA connectors for USB 3.0 trigger I/O and Mini-DIN 9 for USB 2.0 enable synchronization with external test equipment for complex multi-instrument setups.
The Beagle USB 5000 v2 addresses the unique debugging challenges of USB 3.0 that do not exist at USB 2.0 speeds: link training failures, spread-spectrum clocking issues, elastic buffer management, and the complex interplay between the SuperSpeed and USB 2.0 buses that operate simultaneously in every USB 3.0 connection. For teams developing USB 3.0 storage devices, docking stations, hubs, and high-bandwidth peripherals, the dual-bus simultaneous capture eliminates the need to guess which bus is responsible for enumeration failures, performance bottlenecks, or intermittent disconnects.
