About Beagle USB 480 Power Protocol Analyzer
The Total Phase Beagle USB 480 Power Protocol Analyzer is a non-intrusive USB 2.0 analyzer that captures Low, Full and High-Speed USB 2.0 traffic (up to 480 Mbps) while simultaneously graphing VBus current and voltage in real time. By interleaving power readings with the packet stream, it lets engineers correlate power behaviour with specific USB transactions, capturing inrush current, suspend/resume power profiles and charging negotiation directly against the protocol timeline. Peak measurement capacity is 20 V and 3 A (transient), with packet-level timing at 16.67 ns resolution.
The analyzer ships in two editions. The Standard Edition provides a 64 MB hardware buffer with full VBus current/voltage graphing. The Ultimate Edition adds a 256 MB buffer, USB 2.0 advanced triggering, hardware packet filtering and one-click power-to-protocol correlation (detailed below).

The Beagle USB 480 Power does exactly that: it graphs VBus current and voltage values in real time inside the Data Center Software and aligns them with the USB packet stream. The analyzer is a passive bus tap: it performs real-time data analysis and display without altering signalling on the link under test. Digital inputs and outputs on the Mini-DIN 9 connector synchronise captures with oscilloscopes or logic analyzers. A royalty-free Beagle API (C/C++/C#, Python, .NET, VB.NET, Visual Basic 6) supports integration into automated USB test setups.
Real-time USB class-level decoding
Through the Data Center Software, the Beagle USB 480 Power performs real-time USB class-level decoding for HID, Audio, Video, Still Image, Printer, Mass Storage, Hub, Network, Mobile and CDC classes. LiveDisplay technology shows current/voltage readings and USB traffic as they are captured, and LiveFilter and LiveSearch allow interactive filtering and searching during analysis.

The advanced state-based trigger engine lets developers trigger the capture, assert external outputs, filter matching data or move to another state based on data patterns, packet types, error types, events and other criteria. These advanced triggers come standard on the Ultimate Edition and can also be added to a Standard Edition unit as a separate USB 2.0 Advanced Triggers license upgrade.
