About PicoScope 4444
The PicoScope 4444 is a 4-channel differential USB oscilloscope purpose-built for measurements in automotive, power electronics, and industrial environments where ground-referenced probing is impractical or dangerous. Each of the four channels accepts Pico’s PicoConnect 440 series differential probes; fitted with the PicoConnect 442 attenuated differential probe, the inputs are rated CAT III 1000 V, enabling safe measurement of high-side gate drives, bridge circuits, and mains-referenced power supplies without the ground loop hazards of conventional single-ended oscilloscopes. (The headline 20 MHz bandwidth applies to the D9-to-BNC adaptor and reduces to 10 MHz when the PicoConnect 442 probe is fitted.)

With selectable native 12-bit and 14-bit hardware resolution modes (and resolution enhancement up to 16-bit from the 12-bit mode or 18-bit from the 14-bit mode) plus a 256 MS capture buffer, the PicoScope 4444 resolves fine signal detail on noisy power rails and motor drive waveforms. Built-in protocol decoders for CAN, LIN, FlexRay, and serial buses combine with the differential inputs to make it an ideal companion for automotive ECU development, where bus signals often ride on non-ground-referenced supplies. PicoScope 7 software provides advanced math channels, spectrum analysis, and mask testing across Windows, macOS, and Linux.

The differential input architecture makes the PicoScope 4444 uniquely suited for automotive EMC testing and power electronics development. In automotive environments, ground potentials between different ECUs and power domains can differ by tens of volts, making single-ended measurements unreliable or dangerous. The PicoScope 4444’s isolated differential channels measure accurately across these potential differences, enabling safe characterization of gate driver signals, inverter outputs, and battery management circuits. For power supply designers, the differential inputs enable direct measurement of switching node voltages, inductor currents (via current sense resistors), and output ripple without the ground loop artifacts that plague single-ended probes on power converter circuits.
