8-channel oscilloscope: eight high-resolution analog channels

The eight-channel count is the PicoScope 4824A’s defining advantage. When debugging an embedded system you can quickly run out of channels, you may need to watch an I2C or SPI bus at the same time as multiple power rails, DAC outputs and logic signals. With eight analog channels the PicoScope 4824A copes with all of this, decoding up to eight serial buses while keeping analog waveforms and decoded data both visible. The same eight channels let you monitor current and voltage on all four conductors of a 3-phase-plus-neutral distribution system to characterize and balance loads across phases. The BNC connectors use 20 mm spacing and accept common probes, so the 4824A drops into existing benches without new fixturing.

Deep memory oscilloscope: 256 MS for long captures

With 256 MS of shared capture memory, the PicoScope 4824A is a genuine deep memory oscilloscope. Pico states the scope can capture over five minutes of continuous 50/60 Hz waveform data at high timing resolution, long enough to catch intermittent events and to decode extended bursts of serial bus traffic without losing detail. For events that happen in rapid sequence, the scope uses segmented (rapid block) memory together with reduced trigger rearm time, capturing one waveform after another into the buffer. When you need records longer than the on-board memory, the driver supports gap-free streaming straight to the PC’s RAM or hard disk, so storage is limited only by your PC.

PC oscilloscope: PicoScope 7 software and SDK included

As a PC oscilloscope, the 4824A turns your laptop or workstation into a large, high-resolution display with no fixed front panel to constrain it. The included PicoScope 7 software provides advanced math channels, a spectrum analyzer, automatic measurements and statistics, mask limit testing for pass/fail production screening, advanced digital triggering and serial decoding, and runs on Windows, macOS and Linux. High-end features such as resolution enhancement, serial decoding, segmented memory and the signal generator are all included in the price, and Pico delivers new functionality through free software upgrades. The supplied PicoSDK with example programs in C, Visual Basic, Excel VBA and LabVIEW lets you automate the 4824A for production test and custom applications.

Applications

The PicoScope 4824A’s channel count, deep memory and decoding make it well suited to:

  • Automotive and embedded debugging: observe several power rails, sensor lines and serial buses (CAN, LIN, FlexRay, I2C, SPI, UART) at the same time, with analog waveforms and decoded data on one screen.
  • 3-phase power measurement: monitor current and voltage on all four conductors of a 3-phase-plus-neutral system to characterize and balance loads.
  • Power-quality and long-record analysis: use 256 MS memory and built-in measurements such as true RMS, frequency, peak-to-peak and THD for power-quality work.
  • Audio, ultrasonic and vibration analysis: eight high-resolution channels plus the spectrum analyzer for multi-channel acoustic and mechanical signals.
  • Production test and automation: mask limit testing, segmented memory and the PicoSDK for automated pass/fail screening on the line.

Common questions about PicoScope 4824A

How much does the PicoScope 4824A cost in India?
The PicoScope 4824A price in India depends on the configuration you choose, the oscilloscope on its own or the kit supplied with a set of MI007 passive probes, plus any optional active differential probes, current clamps or accessories. As the authorized Pico Technology engineering partner in India, GSAS Micro Systems provides current INR pricing, GST-compliant quotations, probe-kit guidance and demonstrations. Request a quote with your probe and accessory requirements for an accurate India price.
What is the PicoScope 4824A and which series does it belong to?
The PicoScope 4824A is the 8-channel member of the Pico Technology PicoScope 4000A series, alongside the 2-channel 4224A and 4-channel 4424A. All three share 12-bit hardware resolution (up to 16 bits with Resolution Enhancement), 20 MHz bandwidth, 80 MS/s sampling, 256 MS deep capture memory, a built-in 80 MS/s 14-bit arbitrary waveform generator, a SuperSpeed USB 3.0 interface and the PicoScope 7 software. The 4824A simply offers the highest channel count in the family.
How many channels does the PicoScope 4824A have, and why does that matter?
The PicoScope 4824A is an 8-channel oscilloscope. Eight analog channels let you observe several signals at once, for example multiple power rails, an I2C or SPI bus and DAC or logic outputs together when debugging an embedded system, or current and voltage on all four conductors of a 3-phase-plus-neutral system. A standard 4-channel scope cannot cover all of these simultaneously.
How deep is the PicoScope 4824A capture memory?
The PicoScope 4824A has 256 MS of capture memory, shared between the active channels. This deep memory lets you capture long, high-resolution records, Pico states the scope can capture over five minutes of continuous 50/60 Hz waveform data, which is useful for power-quality work and for decoding long bursts of serial bus traffic. The driver also supports gap-free streaming to PC RAM or disk, so capture length is not limited to the on-board buffer.
Which serial protocols can the PicoScope 4824A decode?
Serial decoding is included as standard across all eight channels, with support for CAN, LIN, FlexRay, I2C, I2S, UART/RS-232 and SPI. Decoded data is shown in graph format beneath the waveform on a common time axis and in table format as a list of frames with data, flags and identifiers, so the PicoScope can replace a separate protocol analyzer in many automotive and embedded workflows.
How do I buy the PicoScope 4824A in India?
