About PicoScope 5444D
The PicoScope 5444D is Pico Technology’s flexible resolution oscilloscope, offering a unique ability to trade bandwidth for resolution — from 8-bit at 200 MHz down to 16-bit at lower bandwidths — adapting to the measurement at hand. This makes it equally capable of capturing fast digital edges and resolving millivolt-level analog signals on power rails, sensor outputs, and audio circuits, all from a single USB 3.0 bus-powered instrument.

With 4 analog channels, optional 16-channel MSO digital inputs, 1 GS/s sample rate, and a deep 512 MS capture buffer, the PicoScope 5444D covers the widest range of embedded development scenarios. The 200 MHz bandwidth handles SPI, I2C, UART, and CAN bus analysis, while 16-bit mode provides the dynamic range for precision analog measurements. An integrated arbitrary waveform generator, PicoScope 7 software with advanced triggering and serial decoding, and a Python/C SDK for test automation round out a versatile instrument that replaces multiple benchtop tools.

The FlexRes architecture gives engineers what no fixed-resolution oscilloscope can: the ability to optimize the instrument for each measurement task. Debugging fast SPI transactions at 50 MHz demands bandwidth and sample rate, so 8-bit mode at full 200 MHz bandwidth is appropriate. Characterizing power supply ripple on a 3.3V rail requires resolution to see millivolt-level detail, so 16-bit mode at reduced bandwidth provides the dynamic range. Having both capabilities in a single instrument eliminates the need to switch between instruments or compromise on measurement quality. The built-in AWG adds stimulus capability for frequency response testing, filter characterization, and sensor excitation without a separate waveform generator.
