About Saleae Logic 8

The Saleae Logic 8 is the entry tier of Saleae’s USB logic analyzer line, and the bestseller. 8 dual-purpose channels (digital or analog), 100 MS/s max digital sampling over USB 2.0 (sustained rate scales with the channel count in use), 10 MS/s analog sampling at 10-bit resolution, 25 MHz digital bandwidth, fixed +1.2 V threshold, and a 0–5 V operating input range. Small enough to ship with every developer on an embedded team in India, capable enough to decode I²C, SPI, UART, and the rest of the everyday protocol stack.

Saleae Logic 8, entry-tier USB logic analyzer with analog channels, available in India from GSAS

Saleae Logic 8 exploded view, 8+ layer PCB, 5 billion DSP operations/second, dual-use mixed-signal inputs, 6061 T6 aluminum chassis, engineering depth at the entry price point, available in India from GSAS

For embedded development teams across Bengaluru, Pune, and Chennai, the Logic 8 is the standard kit, the analyzer you reach for during sensor bring-up, EEPROM programming, UART console capture, and the first round of bus debug on any new board. Pair it with Logic 2 software (free), the in-app Marketplace of community decoders, and the Python HLA framework when an application-layer decoder is needed. Steps up to the Logic Pro 8 or Pro 16 when the design needs higher sample rates, selectable thresholds, or 12-bit analog precision.

In the box

Every Saleae Logic 8 ships with:

  • Logic 8 analyzer pod
  • 1× Wire Harness with hook-style test clips (8 channels, covers channels 0–7)
  • USB-C to USB-A cable (for the host PC connection)
  • Quick-start documentation

Most India teams add a Saleae Logic-to-Wires flying-leads cable and a 2x4 header cable for breadboard, through-hole, and production-debug-header use cases, see Companion accessories below.

Common questions about Saleae Logic 8

Is the Logic 8 enough for my project, or should I jump to a Pro?
If you're doing single-bus debug (I²C + chip selects, SPI + clock + interrupt, async serial console capture) and your fastest signal is under ~25 MHz, the Logic 8 is the right tool. Step up to the Logic Pro 8 when you need 500 MS/s digital sample rate (vs the Logic 8's 100 MS/s max), 12-bit analog precision (vs 10-bit), selectable logic thresholds (vs the fixed 1.2 V), or wider input range.
Will the Logic 8 work with my Mac?
Yes. Saleae's Logic 2 software runs natively on macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), Windows 10/11, and Linux x86, same single binary. The Logic 8 connects via USB-C to USB-A and works identically on every OS.
What's in the box?
Logic 8 analyzer pod, 1 wire harness with hook-style test clips covering 8 channels, USB-C to USB-A cable, and quick-start documentation. Logic 2 software is a free download, no licence, no per-seat fee. Many India teams add a flying-leads cable for breadboard probing.
What's the warranty and RMA process?
Saleae provides a standard manufacturer warranty. GSAS supports RMA handling for units within the warranty terms (i.e., the warranty has not been voided through user damage, modification, or misuse). For exact warranty duration and conditions, refer to Saleae's official warranty documentation; for India RMA logistics, contact GSAS.
Can I run Python automation with the Logic 8?
Yes. Saleae's Logic 2 Automation API is the same Python interface that drives every model in the line, capture, decode, export, and `.sal` diff against a known-good baseline. The Logic 8 is the standard pick for an entry-tier nightly regression rack on a bench Raspberry Pi or x86 mini-PC.
