About Saleae Logic Pro 8

The Saleae Logic Pro 8 is the professional-tier 8-channel USB logic analyzer in Saleae’s Logic family. Shares the same internal architecture as the Logic Pro 16-500 MS/s digital sampling (USB 3.0, up to 4 channels at full rate), 50 MS/s analog at 12-bit resolution, 100 MHz digital bandwidth, selectable logic thresholds at +0.6 V / +0.9 V / +1.65 V, and an operating input range of −10 V to +10 V, packaged for designs that need 8 or fewer signals probed simultaneously.

Saleae Logic Pro 8-8-channel mixed-signal USB logic analyzer for India embedded teams from GSAS

Saleae Logic Pro 8 exploded view, 8+ layer PCB, 5 billion DSP operations/second, dual-use mixed-signal inputs, 6061 T6 aluminum chassis, engineering depth for Indian sensor module bring-up and medical device debug teams

For Indian semiconductor design houses, medical-device engineering teams, and sensor-module bring-up labs, the Logic Pro 8 is the right pick when the higher 500 MS/s sample rate, the 12-bit analog channels, and the selectable thresholds matter, but 16 channels would be overkill. The standard 8-channel coverage is enough for most single-bus debug sessions (I²C + chip selects + reset, or SPI + clock + chip selects + interrupt), and the 12-bit analog at 50 MS/s captures the rail behaviour under load that an entry-tier analyzer can’t see.

The Logic Pro 8 runs the same Logic 2 software as the rest of the line, free across Windows, macOS, and Linux; 23 built-in protocol analyzers plus 50+ community-shared decoders via the Logic 2 Marketplace (about 70+ in total); Python Automation API for headless CI captures; and the HLA framework for custom application-layer decoders.

In the box

Every Saleae Logic Pro 8 ships with:

  • Logic Pro 8 analyzer pod
  • 1× Wire Harness with hook-style test clips (8 channels)
  • USB-C to USB-A cable (USB 3.0 SuperSpeed capable)
  • Quick-start documentation

For automated CI/CD test racks and team labs, most India deployments add the 2x4 header cable so production fixtures don’t depend on flying-lead seating between runs, see Companion accessories below.

Common questions about Saleae Logic Pro 8

Why pick the Logic Pro 8 over the entry Logic 8?
Three reasons: 500 MS/s digital sample rate (5× the Logic 8), 12-bit analog precision (vs 10-bit), and selectable logic thresholds (+0.6 V / +0.9 V / +1.65 V vs the Logic 8's fixed 1.2 V). The selectable thresholds matter most, they let the Pro 8 work cleanly on 1.8 V SoC rails where the Logic 8 reads noisy. The 12-bit analog catches rail behaviour under load that 10-bit smooths away.
Why pick the Logic Pro 8 over the Logic Pro 16?
Channel count. If your debug sessions are single-bus (I²C + chip selects, SPI + chip selects + IRQ, async-serial console + reset), 8 channels is plenty. Step up to the Pro 16 when you need to capture multiple buses simultaneously or wider parallel structures like DDR command channels.
Does the Logic Pro 8 work on macOS Apple Silicon?
Yes, Logic 2 ships a native arm64 build for Apple Silicon. Same binary covers Intel macOS, Apple Silicon macOS, Windows 10/11, and Linux x86.
What's in the box?
Logic Pro 8 analyzer pod, 1 wire harness with hook clips (8 channels), USB-C to USB-A cable (USB 3.0 SuperSpeed), and quick-start documentation. Logic 2 software is a free download. Most India teams add a 2x4 header cable for CI/CD bench fixtures.
Can the Pro 8 be used on a CI/CD test rack?
Yes. Saleae's Logic 2 Automation API drives capture / decode / export / `.sal` diff from Python. GSAS engineering helps India teams land the first GitHub Actions or GitLab CI workflow on a bench Raspberry Pi as part of the engineering-partner relationship.
