Overview
About Saleae Logic Pro 16
The Saleae Logic Pro 16 is the flagship of Saleae’s USB logic analyzer line, 16 digital channels and 16 analog channels (the same physical inputs, dual-purpose), 500 MS/s digital sampling over USB 3.0 (up to 4 channels at full rate), 50 MS/s analog sampling at 12-bit resolution, 100 MHz digital bandwidth, and selectable logic thresholds at +0.6 V, +0.9 V, or +1.65 V. The operating input range is −10 V to +10 V with ±25 V absolute max protection.

For India-based embedded teams, the Logic Pro 16 is the right tool when a multi-rail board needs to come up, 16 channels covers the bus, the chip selects, the reset lines, and the rail-sequencing signals on the same capture, with analog visibility on every channel to confirm voltage rails actually reached their targets. The 12-bit ADC at 50 MS/s and 5 MHz analog bandwidth is enough for SoC supply-rail verification, ripple measurement on switched-mode regulators, and the kind of low-frequency analog work that doesn’t justify a benchtop scope.
The Logic Pro 16 decodes protocols in Logic 2 with 23 built-in analyzers plus 50+ community-shared decoders (about 70+ in total). The built-in stack covers the everyday protocols, I²C, SPI, UART (Async Serial), CAN, LIN, SMBus, Modbus RTU/ASCII, JTAG, SWD, I²S/PCM, 1-Wire, BISS-C, DMX-512, MIDI, HDMI-CEC, Atmel SWI, HD44780 LCD, MDIO, USB-PD, synchronous parallel. Community-contributed analyzers via the in-app Logic 2 Marketplace add the long-tail: CAN-FD, I3C, MIPI RFFE/DSI, USB LS/FS, NAND, SD/MMC, SDIO, ISO7816/APDU, DCC, Anybus CompactCom, Quadrature, MBus, IR Remote, DHT2x, and dozens more. When the protocol you need doesn’t have an existing decoder, the Logic 2 High-Level Analyzer (HLA) framework lets you write one in Python. GSAS engineering co-authors HLAs with customer firmware teams as part of the engineering-partner relationship.
The included Logic 2 software is free across Windows 10/11, macOS (Intel and Apple Silicon), and Linux x86. The Python Automation API drives Logic 2 from a script for capture, decode, export, and .sal diff against a known-good baseline, the standard pattern for nightly hardware-in-the-loop regression on a bench Raspberry Pi or x86 mini-PC. The Sample Analyzer C++ SDK on GitHub ships a working GitHub Actions workflow as a reference.
In the box
Every Saleae Logic Pro 16 ships with:
- Logic Pro 16 analyzer pod (16 channels)
- 2× Wire Harness with hook-style test clips (covers channels 0–7 and 8–15, full 16-channel set)
- USB-C to USB-A cable (USB 3.0 SuperSpeed)
- Carrying case
- Quick-start documentation
For 16-channel SMD probing on dense boards, most India teams add the full Wire Harness, Test Clips Set so they have a backup set on hand and per-bench staging, see Companion accessories below.
Companion accessories
- Saleae Wire Harness, Test Clips Set: second complete 4-harness set for the full 16-channel run; spares for the day a clip jaw breaks
- Saleae Logic-to-Wires Cable (Flying Leads): direct labelled flying leads for breadboard, wire-wrap, and through-hole probing on the 8-channel half
- Saleae Logic 2x4 Header Cable (Gen 2): board-mounted debug header connections; pair two cables for a full 16-channel production fixture
