The High-End Comparison Every Indian Lab Runs
If your team is sizing up a serious oscilloscope investment in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Pune, Mumbai, or Delhi NCR, the Keysight InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series almost always lands on the shortlist. It is the mainstream 200 MHz to 1 GHz benchtop mixed-signal oscilloscope for Indian R&D labs, familiar on the bench, easy to specify through procurement, and backed by Keysight Technologies’ established Indian service network.
The challenger is the PicoScope 6000E. It is a USB 3.0 oscilloscope family from Pico Technology that targets the same application space with a very different architecture: no standalone box, a laptop-driven workflow, deeper memory, hardware FlexRes resolution switching, and 40+ serial protocol decoders included standard with PicoScope 7 software.
This post walks through the comparison the way an Indian design team actually runs it, feature by feature, use case by use case.

Spec-by-Spec Comparison
Bandwidth and Channels
- PicoScope 6000E: 4 or 8 analog channels, bandwidth options spanning 500 MHz, 1 GHz, and up to 2 GHz at the top of the range. 16 digital MSO channels on MSO variants.
- Keysight InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: 2 or 4 analog channels, bandwidth options at 200 MHz, 350 MHz, 500 MHz, and 1 GHz. 16 digital MSO channels on MSO variants.
If your team needs 8 analog channels, common on multi-phase motor drive work, ECU validation with multiple rails, or board-level power integrity, the PicoScope 6000E is the only one of the two that covers it. The InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series tops out at 4 analog channels.
Sample Rate
- PicoScope 6000E: up to 5 GS/s real-time sampling.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: up to 5 GS/s real-time sampling.
This is a rare case where the two architectures converge. The 5x oversampling ratio at 1 GHz bandwidth is adequate for both; edge reconstruction is comparable.
Memory Depth: The Widest Gap
- PicoScope 6000E: up to 4 GS standard buffer memory on the top variants.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: 4 Mpoints standard, with optional upgrades to deeper memory via paid licenses.
On the base configurations, the PicoScope provides orders of magnitude more buffer depth. At 5 GS/s sample rate, 4 GS memory captures roughly 800 ms of continuous data at full sample rate. At 4 Mpoints, the InfiniiVision captures roughly 800 microseconds at the same rate.
This is not a subtle difference. For serial bus decode across long transactions, for intermittent glitch hunting, for power-on transient capture, for EMC pre-compliance dwell captures, the deep buffer is what determines whether your engineer catches the event or wastes a day re-running the test.
Vertical Resolution
- PicoScope 6000E: hardware FlexRes, switchable between 8-bit, 10-bit, and 12-bit. The resolution change is real, it is a hardware-level mode, not a software post-process.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: 8-bit ADC. High-resolution modes are achieved via software averaging.
For precision measurement work, ripple analysis on switch-mode power supplies, low-level analog signal integrity, audio-frequency characterization, PicoScope FlexRes is a meaningful advantage. You get the dynamic range without losing real-time behavior.
Serial Protocol Decoders
- PicoScope 6000E with PicoScope 7 software: 40+ decoders included standard. CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, I2C, SPI, UART, I2S, 1-Wire, USB, Ethernet, ARINC 429, and many more, all in the base price.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: protocol decoders are typically paid add-on licenses. Teams budget separately for CAN, LIN, I2C, SPI, and so on.
For an Indian automotive ECU validation team that needs CAN, CAN FD, LIN, and FlexRay, the PicoScope comes decoder-complete out of the box. The Keysight benchtop needs each decoder purchased separately, and each license extends the procurement cycle.

Connection and Workflow
- PicoScope 6000E: USB 3.0 to host PC. Works with Windows, macOS, and Linux via PicoScope 7 software.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: standalone benchtop with a 10.1-inch capacitive touchscreen on the lower tier and 12.1-inch on the upper tier. Keysight BenchVue desktop software is Windows-oriented.
This is the architectural choice that drives everything else. PicoScope treats the oscilloscope as a measurement front-end and gives the engineer the full display of whatever PC they already have. Keysight treats the oscilloscope as a complete instrument with its own UI.

- PicoScope 6000E: compact desktop unit that fits in a laptop bag alongside the PC.
- InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: full benchtop enclosure that typically stays on one bench.
For Indian teams where the same engineer works across a Bengaluru lab bench, a Pune customer site visit, and a Chennai supplier facility, the PC-based form factor means the scope travels with them.

PicoScope 6000E: Trade-offs
- Requires a host PC. If your workflow needs a standalone box on a bench with no laptop, this is the wrong tool.
- No built-in touchscreen UI.
- Less historical brand recognition inside Indian procurement departments that default to Keysight.
Keysight InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: Strengths
- Full standalone operation with no PC dependency.
- Large capacitive touchscreen UI on the bench.
- Strong Indian service network and long procurement familiarity.
- Extensive accessories and probe ecosystem.
Keysight InfiniiVision 3000T X-Series: Trade-offs
- Shallower standard buffer memory compared to the PicoScope 6000E.
- 8-bit ADC with no hardware FlexRes.
- Most serial protocol decoders require paid upgrade licenses.
- Benchtop footprint is not portable.
- BenchVue software is Windows-only.
The Indian Procurement Argument
Total cost of ownership is where this comparison gets interesting for Indian teams. The PicoScope 6000E typically lands at materially lower total cost because every software feature is included in the base price. There is no per-decoder upgrade, no memory upgrade license, no triggering-option upgrade. PicoScope 7 is a single application that ships with the scope and updates free for life.
When an Indian R&D manager totals up a 4-channel 1 GHz benchtop plus CAN, CAN FD, LIN, FlexRay, I2C, SPI, and UART decoders, plus a memory upgrade, against a PicoScope 6000E that ships with all of that standard, the gap is usually wide enough to change the decision.
That said, the benchtop has a real advantage: it is a self-contained instrument on a bench. Teams that value a standalone box, a touchscreen UI, and zero PC dependency still pick the Keysight every quarter. This is especially true in production test stations where a dedicated benchtop is simpler to maintain than a PC-plus-scope pair.
